LEASH BREAKS IN UNLOADED CHUNKS

When a boat (and possibly other entities, such as animals) is leashed to a pig that is riding in a minecart, the leash breaks when the entities leave a loaded chunk.

Expected behavior:
The leash should remain intact when the chunk unloads and reloads.

Observed behavior:
If the pig (in minecart) with a leashed boat remains within loaded chunks, the leash works correctly. However, once the chunk unloads (e.g., by moving far enough away) and is later reloaded, the leash on the boat is broken.

Additional notes:

  • Increasing the random tick speed was used only to speed up testing.

  • The issue also occurs at the default tick speed.

  • The leash does not break while staying within render distance; it only breaks after chunk unloading.

  • The behaviour seems somewhat inconsistent. I’m often able to reproduce the bug, and sometimes it takes a bit of time (going back and out of render distance).

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Place a pig in a minecart.

  2. Attach a leash from a boat to the pig.

  3. Make sure the pig is floating/inside a floating boat.

  4. Ensure the setup is within render distance and confirm the leash remains intact.

  5. Move far enough away for the chunk containing the entities to unload. (Sometimes this needs to be done multiple times!)

  6. Return to the area so the chunk reloads

(Check attached video to see how I did it)

I sincerely hope this bug will be fixed, as being able to leash mobs this way is super cool, and makes for some very fun contraptions! (also please support leashing minecarts too! xoxo)
