Dolphins still drown themselves when no players are nearby

From what I can tell, this now looks like a specific case involving the corners of the aquarium being air. The dolphin is trying to move to those blocks to breathe, but of course it can’t get there.

As a workaround for now you could fill in the corners. I would be curious to know if you are still able to reproduce the problem with a setup like that?

Hello @DarthPaula one thing to keep in mind is that dolphins, like squid or hostile mobs, will despawn when not near a player, if not nametagged. Do you know if that's what was going on, can you tell if they are dying versus despawning?

I understand that's a subtle difference and probably frustrating given what you were trying to accomplish.

@NathanWolf hi budy, yes he was named. I even dropped him an item to play with tolower the chance of despawn. Did not help. And they are for sure despawning, since there is no message in the chat about the dolphin dying.

@DarthPaula thank you for that feedback. I think if named mobs are despawning, not dying, that is a separate issue. If you are willing to provide more information on that, please open a new ticket- we would appreciate it!

@Nathan Wolf So, after a long fight, we found out my dolphins were drowning asw xD And they still are, no matter the game version. Let’s see what the future will bring

@DarthPaula well that makes sense at least, thank you for the update! For now, please make sure your aquariums have solid corners, that will help a lot.
