The character 'f' (or sometimes a different character) sometimes does not render on some systems

When on the Java Minecraft title screen, and in all menus, lowercase “f”s do not show up. A gap is left in their place. I found the bug first appeared in 26.2-pre-3, and is in all snapshots and releases since as of writing.

I have found that when enabling and disabling force unicode, multiple characters can become invisible at the same time (“3” and “.” in my case).

Environment

I am on a MacBook Pro with Intel running Sequoia 15.7.7 if this is relevant.

After some testing, I found that after enabling and then disabling “Force Unicode”, f becomes visible but another random character becomes invisible

Same. Vanilla 26.2. Not only missing in game, but also from the menu to pick a single or multiplayer server.

here is some more information about my MacBook.

Issue is still happening. It’s a Mac compatibility problem. A simple workaround is to change the language, this forces them to reload.

I found that resetting the language, then immediately typing every letter (upper and lowercase) in the chat bar/similar seems to stop any letters from disappearing. Maybe the issue is the nth character loaded, or similar.
