@Fantastime I use Weasel (an open-source IME) on Windows. The game now renders its own candidate box instead of using Weasel's, so this issue has been resolved for me. However, according to Robot_005, it might not have been resolved for everyone yet.

Type characters in Japanese > IME candidate box flickers > Press Space > Minecraft's custom candidate box appears, and IME candidates disappear

The flickering issue appears to be properly resolved, but a separate issue has surfaced.

This doesn't seem related to this bug. I was able to reproduce MC-311684 from 26.3 snapshot 9 onward, so something likely changed in snapshot 9.
