Relates to MC-308577 and MC-312475.
There are several configuration errors in the redstone repeater and redstone comparator model files used in the Programmer Art resource pack that make these blocks look completely incorrect compared to actual previous versions of Minecraft. Some of these can be seen simply by observing the block directly, whereas others become obvious when applying custom textures on top using a resource pack. As the point of this resource pack is to directly emulate how the game looked in legacy versions, a discrepancy of this magnitude is clearly an issue.
To reproduce:
download and apply one of the attached 1.7.10 resource packs
open a world in 1.6-1.7.10 and place redstone torches, repeaters and comparators
note how they look
download one of the two 26.4 resource packs that retexture redstone torches, and apply them on top of the built in Programmer Art pack
place redstone torches and redstone repeaters in the latest version
note how these look
Expected results: identical looking blocks in the latest version with Programmer Art is is seen in 1.7.10.
Actual results: redstone torches themselves look the same, but repeaters and comparators look fundamentally different. Programmer Art is therefore failing at rendering these blocks as they used to appear.
How to fix: I’ve attached a resource pack that fixes all of the broken model files to this ticket. Mojang have my full permission, and strong encouragement, to replace the broken models in Programmer Art with these fixed versions.
