Shortly after starting to ride a minecart (powered rail next to solid block gets powered) the sound of the minecart stops. It sometimes comes back when you exit the minecart and enter it again.
It seems to have something to do with lag, since it doesn't happen in a small test world. It happens in my big creative world, though.

Yes, this is still an issue in 13w48b but I still don't see a consistent way to reproduce. It just happens sometimes.
Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version 14w11b or later? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases. - bot
Currently testing a track of 500+ meters and I'm bouncing between the two ends a few times and nothing has changed. This is in 18w07c. It may take a few tests to reproduce the issue, or it may occur at random, so perhaps the issue should be postponed for now until someone encounters it again, because the test I'm doing is not causing the behavior.
Confirmed for 1.12.2 and 18w11a.
The cause is that sounds begin to be rationed when there are too many, I believe.
EDIT: This happens with most sounds and is not specific to minecarts.
Confirmed for 1.13-pre2.
The conditions to reproduce are the same, but here is the same problem from another angle using the currently resource-hungry upward bubble columns.
