Cloned maps seem to be limited to 3 markers

When cloning a map and sharing it with some friends on SMP, the number of markers seem to be limited to 3.

We created 5 instances of the map, 2 are hanging on the wall. At any given time there's only 3 showing, which 3 seems to not really change.

Is this a hard intentional limit?

Sounds kind of like MC-4068. And MC-73, and MC-754. They're probably all related. Pretty sure it's not an intentional limit, since the new maps are intended to be copyable, servers, can have a lot of players, and a marker shows up if you put a map in an item frame, so they would have to have expected you to need more that 3 makers.

Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.

I'm finding, on singleplayer, it looks like there is a limit of 4, on 13w05a.

also in 1.5.

Confirmed in 1.5pre

clipka

maybe it's actually an occurence of MC-1528?

Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version 1.7.4 / Launcher version 1.3.8 or later? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.

Still a concern in 1.7.4

After a server restart for testing the map showed only my own marker, then another player's when they opened their copy, then the markers of placed maps once the chunks they were in were loaded. After some time and logging off/logging back on only placed maps would show markers, players' markers would not.

Just had this problem on a server my brother hosts. I made several copies of the map, but only mounted three in frames. Now, only the three green arrows show and my position marker doesn't.

I saw some other related bugs were resolved as "Won't fix". Does that mean Mojang is no longer pursuing a solution to this bug? Please say no 😞

Actually, given the recent comments on MC-3416, which include a fix for that issue, I believe this is actually a duplicate of MC-3416.
