Players in spectator mode can't see what's in command blocks

Steps to reproduce

  • Spawn a command block and type some stuff into it (anything)

  • Type /gamemode 3 and attempt to 'open' the command block

  • It should do what happens with chests where you can view the GUI but it simply doesn't allow you to

still awaiting confirmation

I know I'm a little late to this, but I don't think this is intended. The point of spectator mode is to be able to see everything, that's why they can fly through blocks. Why would they allow spectators access to all information except command blocks?

thank you, i wish someone would reopen this it is obviously not works as intended

plus MC-46435 does not prove whether or not this is works as intended, why should hitboxes affect any of this

@unknown, because you can't interact with blocks if their hitbox isn't visible.
The bug that the hitbox is visible has been fixed, therefore Mojang wants it to be invisible and wants to stop the player from interacting with the block.

if your in spectator mode nothing ever has a hitbox, you can't interact with a chest but you can still view its contents, well same should go with command blocks, its a bug

Not seeing the crosshairs proves nothing. For example, Mojang could have made it so that the game automatically displays the crosshairs on anything you can interact with. Since you can't interact with command blocks, the crosshairs wouldn't display, even though the "not being able to interact with command blocks" is still a bug. After all, the crosshairs don't display on donkeys, but not being able to interact with them is a confirmed bug.

thank you for summing that up for me!
