Mobs not spawning / rarely spawn on transparent blocks (pressure plates, carpets, etc.)

Hostile mobs no longer will spawn naturally on pressure plates in "End" dimension. Easiest to view with endermen in the "End" dimension.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Enter End dimension
2. Fly over 128 blocks from any spawnable areas.
3. Use any means (/fill, /copy, MC Edit, etc.) to place a block below the player.
4. Create a 7x7 platform of stone.
5. Place a 2 block high, 1 block wide wall of glass from one side of the platform to the other, this prevents interaction between the two sides and doesn't allow mobs to spawn on top of the wall.
6. Cover every block on ONE side of the wall with pressure plates.
7. Fly ~30 blocks away in any direction while still looking at platform.
8. Fly back to platform.
Mobs most likely spawned on the side with NO pressureplates. No mobs spawn on the side with pressureplates.

Could not confirm. When I tested both this and my ender-ender (Docm77 design) in 14w06b, I did get spawns on the pressure plates. HOWEVER they were very, very much rarer than in any previous snapshot, and when given the choice between pressure plates and not, about 80% were on blocks without. While they do spawn on pressure plates, it would still seem there is a bug in spawning.

I can confirm that spawn rates themselves are much slower. Even without pressure plates. I used Panda's tripwire endermen farm and found that in the latest snapshot, the rates are reduced by as much as half.

@Cullen Carns - I was worried about that, a switch of farms to the tripwire design would be not "too" bad, but if spawning rates as a whole are down that wouldn't really fix anything.

@David Truog - That is why I posted it as a different bug, it had nothing to do with pressure plates. I hope it gets fixed, I was just about to make the farm on my server then that happend. If I were to guess the problem, I would say maybe the lc value is treated as 255 even though its 127. That may be the problem.

This was created first and seems to be the same root cause, just a bad description/title. I've got a half finished farm and noticed the drop instantly when trying to repair tools, it is one of the key reasons I'm not using this snapshot yet (other than testing). I too hope it is fixed, otherwise I may need to supersize another farm and rig it for XP (the pigman farm maybe, joy for more obsidian grinding).

--Mods - should this bug be updated or a new one more specific to the general cause be created? Can we get some sort of confirmation as to if this is a valid bug or an intended functionality change?

Could anyone explain what they mean with "Won't Fix"?

@unknown: What they mean with "Won't fix" is that this is expected behavior by Mojang.

azenet but I don't get the difference between "Works as intended" and "Won't fix"?!

"Works as intended" means that it's a feature. "Won't fix" means that's it's not necessary wanted like this but it will stay like it is.
At least on my mind.

Okay thank you!
