Hello,
I recently updated the 1.4 pre-release and when I log into a server, or even my single player, I cant seem to split stacks of things which makes crafting impossible. I Recently updated the to the 1.4 when it released today. When i switch the button 1 to 2 and vice versa, it seems to split but makes it very hard to play. I cant seem to figure out what is going on with my Minecraft client. I have no idea why this is happening because i have never had this problem before, although this is my first time updating a pre-release. Please Help. Thanks.

i deleted my options file and it initially worked for some time then it bugged out and only works in creative
I am experiencing the same problem. I have deleted worlds and created new ones and cannot solve the problem. I have also found at least one other person on this site experiencing this. I cannot split items in my inventory. The porblem is the same whether I'm in my inventory or using a workbench.
I think I just found a way around it. I started the game and went into the controls. I switched the "pick block" function from "Button 2" (right mouse) to "`" (on my keyboard this is the button just to the left of the 1). After that the rght mouse button began to behave normally. The "`" button does not control the pick block function; the right mouse button does. I'll update this if anything changes.

Are you referring to right-clicking on a stack of 64 items to split it into a stack of 32 while in your inventory window or crafting grid? I just tried this in 1.4.2 and everything seems to be functioning normally.
