Cannot set spawnpoint in the nether or the end

The coordinates for the Nether + the Overworld are the same coordinates. The example is if you set a spawnpoint in the Nether then die, you're going to respawn at those same exact coordinates as you set in the Nether, but you spawn in the Overworld. This causes the player to re-do the adventure map from where they stopped at and NOT die, or just plain stop playing. This bug fix for an adventure map is extremely essential for players to SPAWN in the Nether, when facing a "Boss," or Powerful Mob, you should be able to spawn in the boss arena rather than having to go into the Nether again.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Check your coordinates
2. Set a spawnpoint in the Nether
3. type /kill
4. Look at your coordinates and figure out what happened.

It is impossible to spawn anywhere outside of the overworld. This site is for bug reports only; feature suggestions are not accepted.

If players aren't supposed to spawn in non-overworld dimensions, then /spawnpoint and /setworldspawn should return an error message when executed in those dimensions. Currently however, the command will return a success message, which is clearly a bug.

This very well may be an intended feature, if that is the case however, the /spawnpoint and /setworldspawn commands should return an error message when executed in non-overworld dimensions. Instead, they appear to work fine, which is a bug.

This should be reopened. First off, there is no reason for the spawnpoint command to not work in other dimensions. Even if this behavior is intended, then it should return an error message saying something like "invalid dimension", which it doesn't.

Issac, that's still a feature request...

Why are you repeating my comment?

"then it should return an error message" falls under feature request.

No it doesn't. If a command doesn't work, but that game says it is, that is clearly a bug.

Fixed sometime in 1.16, I don't know exactly which version.
