Trapped chests only transmit redstone signal via redstone dust

Trapped chest signals are not transmitted into blocks the same way redstone dust signals are. You cannot use a repeater to read the signal through a block placed next to the chest.

As chests are not full blocks it makes traps impossible to completely disguise.

Replacing the repeaters with pistons also does not work

this is not a bug. you need to understand redstone more to understand this. The reason the second pic doesnt work, is because the chest itself is acting like a piece of powered redstone.

He's right though, it should propagate a signal like a pressure plate does for it to be useful.

Wiki doesn't mentions that it acts like a powered redstone dust nor redstone torch. If this is not a bug, I hope it will change soon because redstone torch is more reliable then the dust.

Or at least it was supposed to be, it still won't work with a single player, and a repeater. Making it useless still.

lets hope so Daniel

working now (at least it powers the block below where you can stick a redstone torch to)

By the way, this DOES work in 13w02a if you use a comparator.

It looks like the trapped chest does however power the block directly below it (even if the block is an air block), activating devices that are activated by powered blocks around them, like pistons, dispensers, droppers, etcetera.

Yeah sure, except the blocks you tested suffer from the quasiconnectivity described in MC-108.
