Unstable game; black screens and tearing

When running around in the game, all of my monitors go black and show some tearing for several seconds. This then occurs every minute or so, and happens three or four times each time this occurs, with a second of control in between the several seconds of black screens and tearing. Windows plays the "device connected" noise, as though the graphics card is being re-loaded. I updated Java and AMD CCC to the latest, ran Windows Update, and none of it helped. Attached are 3 crash logs I forced with F3 + C while my screens were freaking out. The last one even caused my third monitor to no longer be recognized by Windows, and I had to unplug and replug all my monitors to fix it, as restarting didn't even correct it. There doesn't seem to be any specific cause to it, other than moving around. If I stand still, it doesn't seem to happen.

Are you playing in fullscreen when this occurs?

This happens both fullscreen and windowed-mode maximized. In both cases, when it occurs, shrinking the window to the default size (about a quarter of my 1920 x 1200 monitor) seems to stop it immediately. Doing so is the only thing short of disconnecting from the server that prevents the three or four bouts of black/tearing each time it happens.

Edit: Tested with the window stretched to within a few pixels of being maximized and couldn't get the black and tearing to happen, though there was definitely still some choppiness going on even though I'm getting 100-200 fps.

Probably MC-63654.
Please attach a screenshot.

This happens with chunks at 12 and VBOs on, plus the visual error is not like 63654, so I don't think it is that.

I will try to get a screenshot of the tearing, but it is not just in-game; it's across all my screens.

Is it possible that your graphics card is overheating or broken? Because all screens are affected (Minecraft cannot do this) and the "Device connected" sound (Minecraft cannot do this too)

I've watched the temperature while playing and it's well within operating range, and no other games are suffering any kind of problems.

Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases. If this has been done, we can reopen the issue.

Keep in mind that the "Resolved"-Status on this ticket just means "Answered", and that we are waiting for further information on whether this issue still exists or not. We will reopen it as soon as the requested information has been delivered.

Ticket resolved as incomplete, because no answer in a reasonable amount of time (1+ year), if it still happens, please update the ticket.
