"keepInventory" gamerule is not functioning

Okay, I was the host of an SMP server. I wanted to make the gamerule keepInventory true. I typed out the command, and it said it had been updated.

What I expected to happen was that when anyone dies, they will not lose items or XP.

What actually happened was anyone on the server who died lost their whole inventory and all XP - therefore the gamerule did not do anything.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open a world - singleplayer or server doesn't matter
2. Use /gamerule keepInventory true (1 is fine too).
3. Die while items are in your inventory.

Other things:
-This only began to happen on 1.7.9 AFTER 1.7.10 was released.
-Afterwards, I re-entered the gamerule command three times, it didn't fix.
-I haven't tested 1.7.10 yet.
-Do I need to upload a screenshot or crash report?

Thanks,

Test it out on 1.7.10 and update your description then.

Also, I can't personally reproduce this. Since only a few days ago, a buddy and I were playing a CTM map on a 1.7.10 server with that gamerule and everything worked just fine.

If this doesn't affect 1.7.10 then you need to move on. Bugs should only be reported for latest release or snapshot.

Please show the exact command used.

I used /gamerule keepInventory 1 AND /gamerule keepInventory true. My question in this report is why it happened after another version was released.

For kicks, I loaded a 1.7.9 server, type /gamerule keepInventory true, give myself some items, typed /kill

  • Kept items.

Tested in single player 1.7.9.

  • Again, kept items.

Update your server to 1.7.10, but what is the outcome if you type /gamerule keepInventory

Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases. If this has been done, we can reopen the issue.

Keep in mind that the "Resolved"-Status on this ticket just means "Answered", and that we are waiting for further information on whether this issue still exists or not. We will reopen it as soon as the requested information has been delivered.

Ticket resolved as incomplete, because no answer in a reasonable amount of time (1+ year), if it still happens, please update the ticket.
