Wall Gate texture shift in the Positive Z direction

The Wall Gate texture shifts when the gate is opened and closed in the Positive Z direction, it resets back when the gate has been opened and closed in the Negative Z direction.

It does not effect the Negative X or Positive X directions.

I only noticed it when making the 32x Fence Gate textures for the John Smith Legacy Resource Pack I look after but it's not the pack as it happens in the vanilla default textures too.

This does no effect the fence gate when connected to anything else only when they are connected to a cobblestone wall (mossy wall also).

Compairing the two model files for the gates (wall & fence) open and closed.

wall_gate_closed.json - fence_gate_closed.json

wall_gate_open.json - fence_gate_open.json

They look fine so it must be something else, I noticed there's no blockstate for wall_gate so it may have something to do with that.

I'm sorry but this is not a duplicate and has only come about with the new block models, it has nothing to do with false hitboxes and it effects gates between fence posts as well as cobblestone walls.

Did you even test it in game?

The gates work fine in 1.7.10.

Caused because fence gates don't use uv-lock in some states.

I've made a test planks_oak.png and added some screen shots, it's much easier to see the texture shifts when the gate is opened and closed in the Positive Z (South) direction, I don't think it's anything to do with the uv-lock.

After some more testing this issue can be easily fixed by uvlock to the 0 direction, I've attached the fixed fence_gate.json and the original version also (fence_gate_old.json).

This would also have to be done for the other five types of wood too.
