Screen flickering in windowed mode Windows 8 64-bit

I have been experiencing the same issue. I have disabled threaded optimization for javaw.exe (made sure I selected the correct exe, too) in the nvidia control panel and still see the flickering. Temperatures are well below 60C for CPU and GPU. I have never had these issues with unmodded Minecraft until I tried it on Windows 8. To better describe the flickering, I can see water, far terrain, or the HUD go invisible for a very short period of time. As for switching to fullscreen, that does seem to fix it but it also looks like switching back to windowed will keep the flickerng away.

Same issue here. Intel i7-3770, 4GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 768MB (driver 310.90), Windows 8 Pro 64-bit, Java 7 Update 11 64-bit.

It's not a technical support thing. This is just in Minecraft not in other games. So I think the problem is somewhere in the code.

Try to get decent graphics card drivers.

A few posts below that shows a very similar issue happening on OS X.

Disable threaded optimization globally, not just for javaw.exe. Fixed for me.

Yep, it does, at least on my pc 😞

Still happens for me as well. Minecraft 13w16a (new launcher, of course), Java 7 Update 21, with nvidia driver version 314.22. This was tested with threaded optimization completely disabled (not only for java).

Right, I have absolutely the same thing. 13w16a Java 7 Update 21 and latest nvidia drivers which is 314.22. And Win 8 PC is re-installed recently.

Same problem with the new launcher and 1.6.2. Windows 8 64 bit here as well.

Tested on 13w38c, Still flickering, Very annoying and never stops.

Edit: Windows 8 Pro 64bit, Nivida GeForce GT 630 (Can go up to 60 fps, not very bad), Java 1.7.0_25, 16 GB Ram, Intel Core i7-2600 CPU @ 3.40GHz, Dual monitor.
