Lan world inventory lost by restarting

After using the resolution for MC-75547 by deleting the DIM-1 folder I had my friend get on my Lan World. Something strange was going on because my friend's skin was not rendering. When she got on she was at spawn with no items so she had to get back to where she was before where I restored her items by spawning them in. After several hours of playing we left and exited the world. When I got back on the world it was really laggy so I closed minecraft and reopened it while my friend did the same. When she got back on to the world she had her normal skin back but had the inventory that she had before she entered the nether a while back. All the items in her inventory were lost and I don't know how to restore them (because there were quite a lot). When I investigated the world file I found that there were now three files in the playerdata folder rather than the previous two.

Can you reproduce this without deleting the folder? Otherwise it's your fault for messing around with the files.

I can confirm that this bug occurs without the modification of any files. If this is like my problem, you will find a player data file pertaining to an unused UUID, delete this file and it should reset their player data.

Is this still an issue in the current Minecraft Snapshot 15w47c or later? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.

Ticket resolved as incomplete, because no answer in a reasonable amount of time (1+ year), if it still happens, please update the ticket.

I recently had this happen twice on version 1.12.2 on OsX. Without deleting any folders or otherwise touching any game files or directories. The incidents happened on 5.12.2017 and 11.12.2017.

I had opened a game to LAN and my daughter joined in. She was also on OsX.

On both occasions the game created a fresh clean empty data file for my daughter's player data. I was able to restore her inventory by moving the old data file to the new file name.

On the first occasion the game switched from using the player data file name 109a6a9c<censored>.dat to using 3778d074<censored>.dat
On the second occasion the game switched back to the original file name!

@unknown, please create a new ticket. (Edit: This might already be fixed in the latest shapshot 18w06a, please check that if possible)
