theres a Piston extended and retracted at the same time behind the dirt/piston block

Confirmed.

Easiest way to reproduce: Two pistons on top of eachother, facing up. Place block next to bottom piston, put redstone torch on block.

Made a short video elaborating on the behavior of pistons' apparent ability to duplicate when facing certain directions. Includes the phenomena of stacking "phantom" pistons. (Note, the "phantoms" will no longer be created once the twelve block piston-pushing-limit has been reached.

I have also seen the duplicating pistons where a piston pushing another piston will either duplicate the pushed piston OR push the pushing piston back destroying the block behind it.

you will probably have to turn around after spawning

here is a save file with a double piston door that is now duplicating pistons

Can reproduce, really annoying.

Here's a few screenshots showing why they break piston doors.

I thought I was the first to discover D:
(My report is MC-8773)

I'm not sure if this is the same bug but this set up has more then a 50% failure rate
This doesn't generate ghost pistons but for some reason more then every other piston doesn't fire in the correct order and creates a single double headed piston.

Yes Ray that is the same issue. The fact that it is not just about messed up graphics. I have a portcullis setup and where the second row of pistons should push up the head of the piston replaces its base and I don't get the full length of extension from both pistons. Still present in 13w05a.

I found another version of this glitch in 12w05a: http://imgur.com/a/KKAtW
It works every time I have tried.

Yeah like I figured the bug I was experiencing and this bug were not the same, this one is said to be fixed but the bug that breaks over 50% of my pistons is not.

This still seems to be happening within 13w6a as well.

you mean something like this: MC-9363 ?

Hello, admin, I have browsed the list of issues here regarding pistons extensively, and though your complaint form (as I may call it) tells me that I should still search before creating my issue, I can surmise that none of these represent the one I want to make.
Please guide me threw as I am still unfamiliar with the procedures here – What can be done if I think that my issue is similar to others only in name but not in content? I really want to voice it out. I would greatly appreciate your reply.
