Hello Mojang,
First of all, I have to apologies if my speech contains some errors, english is not my native language...
Anyway, I was trying the new Levitation effect from the last snapshots with the command "/effect".
It worked well, but when I hit the ground I bounce like I jumped on a Slime Block ( but obviously there was not ).
This "bouncing" effect happen even if I die from fall damage ( which is quite funny ) ; whereas when I survived from the fall but then killed because of this bounce is pretty annoying.
It may happen anytime when using this effect but mostly when I am already in the air and use this effect with 255 amplification ( using "/effect Xeimai minecraft:levitation 20 255" ) to float or 250 to 254 to slow my fall ( that strangely don't reduce fall damages by the way ).
Thanks for your attention and have a nice day.

Excuse me to insist, but I don't understand why you said that this issue is a duplicate.MC 10755 seems to be a normal effect of mining fatigue 5, but I don't think my problem is a normal behaviour of the levitation effect.
Check out the attatched video and you should see why I don't think it's normal... or at least explain me why you thought it's a duplicate.

It's any effect that has a higher amplifier than is possible without commands.

I understand, but as I said if it mostly happen when I set the amplifier really high, sometimes it happen also with low or no amplifier at all ( like "/effect Xeimai minecraft:levitation 10 0" for example ). But only with commands, not with the Shulker's Bullet effect.

Okay, the ticket that this supposedly "duplicates" is involving a different effect as well as circumstance. And I thought that amplifiers over 127 were SUPPOSE to reverse.
What I'm getting at here is that reversing effects (specifically the levitation effect) is useful for map makers, as you can make players float up OR down via reversing it. Since players bounce repeatedly when hitting the ground before eventually dying when they have the effect, that creates a problem. Therefore, this is a valid bug and has NOTHING to do with the bug that it's claimed to "duplicate".
Would a mod please reopen this?

Well, is it possible with an amplifier at 4 or less?

As of previous versions, there was little to no use for reversing effects, as most effects had another effect reverse it instead. In the case of levitation though, this is different. Unless they add a new effect for map makers that reverses the effect, this needs to be reopened.

That doesn't answer my question, though.
Is it possible with an amplifier of 4 or less?

My point was that your question was invalid. It doesn't matter if it works with an amplifier of 4 or less. Jeb implied he didn't want to deal with problems that have no effect on the gameplay. That was 2 years ago. At this point in time, there is a use for it to map makers (at least for this effect alone, which OBVIOUSLY didn't exist 2 year ago). If made to work correctly and not bounce players in survival/adventure mode, this would create an amazingly helpful effect. I'd say that it'd probably be one of the most useful effects for map makers since Saturation.

If you would like a temp fix just set their gamemode to spectator right before they hit the ground then change it back to survival or adventure... This will remove all fall damage and fix the bounce bug.
