Vines placed without a support block using /setblock cannot be interacted with

Unlike any other blocks, vines placed in the air via /setblock (or any block which cannot support them) cannot be interacted with in any way.

This is probably because the default blockstates for vines are all false (MC-132129).

WAI, you can only climb vines if there's a block behind them.

This should be reopened. You can actually still climb the vines in mid-air. And you cannot destroy the vines if they are in mid-air.

Affects 1.15.2 and 20w15a.

Can confirm in 20w46a.

Can confirm in 20w51a.

Can confirm in 21w03a.

This is fixed in 1.17 pre-release 3

Can also confirm that this issue has been fixed in 1.17 Pre-release 3.

Wonderful, now we can't use this great feature with invisible climbing mechanics. Well done Mojang. You've done a fantastic job again.

DelimanCZ, you know this isn't the right place to complain about bug fixes. r/Mojira exists.

You can add blocks like cave_air to #climbable for invisible climbable blocks
