8-level flat snow does not act like a snow block

When removing a block below a snow block created from 8 snow layers, the snow block also gets removed.
This could be intended but confuses because the snow blocks look exactly the same and shouldn't behave different then. Additional issues include it acting like a transparent block, meaning you can't place a button, etc. on it.

I've made the top face of an 8-high snow block solid, but the other faces can't be changed due to technical limitations.

The 8-high snow block is 1/8th of a block shorter than Snow Blocks (On the y axis) aswell

Sorry, but I cannot place signs on the top face of the snow blocks made of snow layers.
Or do I get your fix wrong?

why not just change 8 level snow layers to snow blocks?

Because each snow block is 4 snow balls, but it takes 8 layers of snow to make a full block, so you're losing even more snowballs in production of it. You're already losing half in the current system as is.

About the snow layer crafting recipe, it would make more sense to make its crafting recipe 3 snowballs instead of 3 snow blocks, and make the output 3 snow layers. That would balance everything out more easily, since each snow layer makes 1 snowball. As for snow blocks, it would make more sense for its recipe to require 8 snowballs now, since we can craft the layers.

Anyone agree with my logic?

What's the problem with an inefficient conversion rate?
