Flying with an elytra into the side of slime blocks/hay bales inflicts damage

The Bug:

Crashing into the side of slime or hay blocks still deals damage/doesn't reduce damage.

Steps to Reproduce:

  • Obtain elytra, some firework rockets, and summon a large wall of either slime blocks or hay blocks.

/fill ~3 ~ ~3 ~3 ~12 ~12 minecraft:slime_block
/fill ~3 ~ ~3 ~3 ~12 ~12 minecraft:hay_block

  • Switch into survival mode and use your firework rockets to fly into the sky.

  • Crash into the side of the wall of blocks you just summoned.

  • Take note as to whether or not crashing into the side of slime or hay blocks deals damage.

Observed Behavior:

Crashing into the side of slime or hay blocks still deals damage/doesn't reduce damage.

Expected Behavior:

Crashing into the side of slime blocks would make you bounce therefore preventing damage and crashing into the side of hay blocks would reduce damage.

Hay bales don't reduce damage either by doing the same thing, I think.

I can't confirm this for 1.9 pre2. If the wings are activated when falling, you will bounce off the slime block as usual.

the reports states damage, is that also gone?

In 1.9-pre2, I take the same damage whether it's a slime block, hay bale, or any other block.
