Hello,
I am unable to sign in to a Microsoft account in my Steam copy of Minecraft Dungeons II (Steam appid 1912410). On every launch the game immediately shows:
Cannot sign you in to Xbox LiveSorry, something went wrong. Please try again later. (0x89245104)
0x89245104 corresponds to the GDK error E_GAMEUSER_USER_NOT_FOUND ("User matching the ID was not found").
I have ruled out the following through controlled tests:
It is not a Microsoft account problem.
All of my Microsoft accounts (
[email protected],[email protected]) fail;A friend's Microsoft account — which works perfectly on his own machine — also fails when used with my copy of the game.
It is not a PC problem.
Logging my Steam account into another, known-good PC and running the same game also fails;
The same friend, using his own Steam account and his own copy, works perfectly on that same PC.
It is not a network, proxy or region problem.
No VPN and no system proxy during testing;
The account has no enforcement actions (enforcement page: 0/8, no active suspensions);
Xbox privacy & safety settings allow multiplayer, cross-network play, clubs, etc.;
Players in mainland China can sign in to this game normally without any accelerator.
All standard fixes have been tried and none worked:

%LOCALAPPDATA%\Dungeons2\SavedSigned out and back in on both the Xbox app and Microsoft Store
Re-linked the Steam account inside the Xbox app
Changed the Microsoft account region (China → Japan) and the Windows region
Added the
-windowedlaunch optionRebooted the game and the PC multiple times
Used the in-game "Sign in with your Microsoft account" entry
My conclusion:
The problem points to the server-side "SteamID ↔ Microsoft account" binding record for my Steam account. On every launch the game reads that record and tries to sign in the account stored in it; if the record is broken or points to a no-longer-valid target, the game reports 0x89245104 ("user not found"). This also explains why signing in with any other Microsoft account locally makes no difference — the game does not use the locally signed-in account, but the one in the server-side binding.
My request:
Please check and clear the server-side Microsoft-account binding for the Steam account below, so that I can perform a clean re-link afterwards.
Steam display name: zChenXplorer
SteamID64: 76561199178572815 (account ID: 1218307087)
Game: Minecraft Dungeons II, Steam appid 1912410
I can provide error screenshots, the %LOCALAPPDATA%\Dungeons2\Saved\Logs logs, and a written reproduction of the controlled tests above.
Thank you very much.

@[MCQA] jKakub same for Linking Account Failed - Minecraft Dungeons II - Jira Service Management
also getting the same exact problem with right after the intro of MCD2 I get error (0x89245104), and whenever I try to sign in to my microsoft account via the game’s settings menu, it gives me Error 0029
Would appreciate any sort of update that regards everyone/the issue itself and not just a solution to the post’s owner individual case, and to the problem as a whole.
Thank you

@[MCQA] jKakub Here are some more screenshots from my side as well. The XBOX Live error comes up every time I boot up the game, and the linking account error comes up when I try to link my Microsoft account via General Settings in MCD2.
the XBOX Live error also occurs every single time when switching from online characters to offline characters or when switching from offline to online characters. this has been happening since the game’s launch
how is the fix going for error code 0029 ? it has been over a week since launch and i still not have been able to redeem my cape to my minecraft account
