unable to find valid certification path to requested target

When using Minecraft.exe. I cannot launch the game.

Please do not just link this as a duplicate to MCL346 as it is not the same issue from all I can see on that page!!

  • please help as I am unable to play my game!

1. I have tried on 2 Desktops both have the same config as above.

2. I have REPEATEDLY uninstalled and reinstalled JAVA even using Revo without success
3. I have uninstalled Minecraft (.minecraft) without success
4. I have repeatedly disabled ESET's Firewall and Anti-virus during the install/uninstall process without success
5. I have tried the "old version of Installer (previous to 1.5.2) and it appears to interact with Java OK
6. I have launched "minecraft_server.1.6.2.exe" and it appears to work with Java but I do not see how it is used

I get the following error every time:

It is exactly the same as MCL-346. There is nothing we can do to help you.

Sorry it is not the same issue.

I know that 100% as I have found a workaround solution to what is obviously a Mojang issue ......and that has NOTHING to do with any of the so called "solutions" to MCL-346.

To say your Support needs a LOT of improvement Mojang is an understatement!!!!

I suggest starting by actually caring about customers and working on a solution for them instead of saying "there is nothing we can do to help you" - you may have found the solution then instead of your customer

The funny thing is that we aren't actually support. This is a bug tracker. Try http://help.mojang.com if you need support.

Sorry that doesn't wash.

When you represent Mojang and are unwilling to help or allow a bug to be classisfied correctly. There is a dis-service to the customer and company.

Does Mojang or any other customer know how to fix this issue - No.....................and I know other customers have the same isue as I've read the other bug reports that have been incorrectly associated with MCL-346, most likley becuse it is easy to do and doesn't require any work.

All very sad really

This is a bug tracker. Its purpose is to track bugs in a piece of software. The moderators here are volunteers, not actual Mojang employees. They are not obligated to help you. If you need support, you should go somewhere that has people who provide support.

Maintaining this bug tracker is a lot of work. I try to keep up with tickets, and help solve problems, even though I'm just another customer, albeit one that actually knows how to use a bug tracker properly. Most people don't, as clearly evidenced by the huge number of invalid and duplicate tickets on this tracker. It's hard to keep up, and when you see the same things over and over again, it gets a little frustrating that people are unwilling to go to the effort to search for existing tickets, or just too incompetent to find them – admittedly, the existing tickets are often poorly written and might be difficult to find, because they were submitted by equally incompetent users.

Mistakes sometimes get made in the rush to try to keep up with the torrent of garbage, sifting through it all for the valid bug reports. However, this is not one of those times. The error in the log on this issue is the same as the one on MCL-346. What leads you to believe that the issue is different? If you have a workaround, why don't you provide it for the benefit of others, or to help Mojang resolve this issue?

The issue is most likely with your system. Either your Java is broken, or your local Java keystore doesn't contain the necessary certificates to validate the SSL certificate used by the download server. It's possible that there's a problem with the server's certificate, but considering that it's on an Amazon server, and most other people can successfully download it without experiencing this error, it's far more likely that the issue is on your end.

Dear team
I've found what causes such error. That's ESET node or any other antivirus SSL protocol filtering. In ESET smart secuirity I disabed SSL filtering and upgraded successfully. I tried to enable it back and just creating rules for exceptions (mojang, S3.amasonwas) - it didn't help. So at least those who have such issue could upgrade disabling SSL filtering. I suppose this should be investigated furhter at Mojang team's side since it is not good skip SSL filtering in Antivirus. Hope it helps somehow!

I am having the same exact problem and I tried all the same things. All I did was press logout to log out of minecraft and then ever since I cant log back in.

It says

Sorry, but we couldn't connect to our servers.
please make sure that you are online and that Minecraft is not blocked
(SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find calid certification path to requested target)

I have tried all the same things to fix it. FTB and technic run fine and I can log in and play on them both but regular mincraft does not let me sign in.

I have reinstalled and updated java, I uninstalled norton and disabled windows firewall. I have uninstalled and deleted all minecraft files and reinstalled and I still cannot log on to minecraft.. I can't find any solutions.
