The new minecraft launcher does not accept my login / Could not log in: Cannot contact authentication server

When I placed in my login username and password, it was not accepted

I thought the Mojang title would come up and allow me to play Minecraft, but it didn't

What happened was a window titled "Could not log in" popped up and told me to reset my password, which I did, and I had repeated the process 5 times after that, all with the same result. I decided to take the latter option and come to this site in which I hope Mojang can help as soon as they can.

It isn't so much a bug, but it did say in the Development Console; Could not log in: Cannot contact authentication server
