"Failed to login" error message when logging into MCD launcher

Note

Some of the reasons you might see this generic message:

  • You attempt to log in for the first time but have a bad connection to our services. Please ensure you have a stable connection!

  • The launcher receives an error from the Xbox Live sign in. See possible workarounds.

Possible workarounds:

  • Remove the .minecraft_dungeons folder found in %AppData%

  • Open Credential Manager found under User Accounts in Control Panel and delete all Windows Credentials entries related to Minecraft Dungeons (Launcher). They begin with Xbl

Hello, I wanted to report an issue with Minecraft Dungeons Launcher. This issue has been mentioned here but it still appears after the recommended solution. 

 

As you can see in the picture, i can´t log in into MCD. After I press Log In, it shows me a message ´Failed to login, please, try again!´.  I already tried to re-install MCD Launcher several times but it didn´t change anything.I also went to Windows credential store and delete the entries related to the launcher and dungeons but it still doesn´t work.

Any ideas?

 

UPDATE: 26.5.2020 14:50 CET

 I attached launcher log, it looks like there´s a problem in vortex.data.microsoft.com . Does anyone know how to fix this situation?

Please edit the Affects Version/s field and select the specific Released Version you were using when you encountered the reported issue.

UPDATE: My MCD Launcher updated, which gave me the option to Create Microsoft Account. Anything hardly changed, i still cannot login into MCD. Anything else that may be a problem? 

Please test this for me:

  1. Close Minecraft Dungeons Launcher

  2. On Windows, search for %AppData% and open the directory

  3. Open .minecraft_dungeons

  4. Delete ClockSkew file

  5. Start Minecraft Dungeons Launcher, and try logging in again

Hey there, i went to %AppData%, as you told me to, and the only things i have in .minecraft_dungeons are these. Did I look right or do i just dont understand anything about this?

One potential reason for this issue is related to having the same account signed-in on multiple instances of the Launcher. For example, if you're already logged in with your Xbox account on a Minecraft Dungeons Launcher in one computer, you might not be able to sign-in again on another computer without signing out from the previous one.

If it is the case that the issue is because of being logged in on another computer (not sure yet, need to test a bit more), I would suggest that you get logged off automatically on the other device or at least make the error message something meaningful (something a bit more specific than "Login failed! Please login again").

Hey Matt, we have fixed the issue you are experiencing, it should be released soon. Worst case you might still see "failed to login".

Hello, with the latest beta release of the Minecraft Dungeons Launcher (2.1.16746) we have improved the login experience ever so slightlly. For instance, if you attempt to sign in with a Microsoft account which has no Xbox profile, you should be prompted to create one in the login flow.

We are still looking into improving the login experience, so if you still have issues, please share any reproduction steps or logs here!

We will soon start sunsetting Minecraft Dungeons Launcher in favor for starting the game from Minecraft Launcher. Mojang Studios has been making small tweaks since this report was created, to the point where we believe that the issues you've been experiencing have been fixed.

If you are experiencing issues where you can't sign in to Minecraft Dungeons Launcher, please use Minecraft Launcher. After January 18, 2021, Minecraft Dungeons Launcher will no longer be used to launch Minecraft Dungeons.
