Hi,
Thanks for the well written bug report and for the investigation 🙂
We will soon work on having better error handling in the Dungeons Launcher sign-in flow, hopefully resulting in more helpful error messages in some cases, including that one.
One potential reason for this issue is related to having the same account signed-in on multiple instances of the Launcher. For example, if you're already logged in with your Xbox account on a Minecraft Dungeons Launcher in one computer, you might not be able to sign-in again on another computer without signing out from the previous one.
Just to clarify, we do want to fix this and it is in the team backlog. However, it won't be fixed soon because there are higher priority work items in our list at the moment.
Hi.
We need more information about your environment to verify that this is a Launcher issue. Also, please attach Launcher and relevant Minecraft log files to this bug report.
Hi,
Can you please attach your Launcher log file to this bug? It should be in "%APPDATA%\.minecraft\launcher_log.txt"
Hi,
Is that issue still happening? Sometimes it can take a little longer for the update files to be available for download after a new version is published.
Thanks for verifying the fix. I'm closing this ticket.
Hi,
Please refer to the instructions in MCL-14106Â for guidance on how to diagnose the issue.
Hi,
Please attach your Launcher log file to this bug next time you see the error.
The log file is located at %APPDATA%\.minecraft_dungeons\launcher_log.txt
Hi,
Thanks for the report. The Dungeons Launcher won't recognize purchases made on Windows Store, for the time being. I recommend asking for a refund from Windows Store, then buying the game again at https://www.minecraftdungeons.net/ if you still wish to use the Launcher for starting the game.

That is by design.
Hi,
Just to clarify, is that issue preventing you from playing the game?
Hi,
Thanks for the report. We are aware of that issue but fixing it is not a priority at the moment. We do want to improve that interaction eventually.
Hi,
The Launcher configuration files in ".minecraft" folder are meant for being used by the Launcher application only. We don't guarantee that the program will keep working as expected when those are tampered with. Can you describe what is your use case for manually modifying those files?
Hi,
That error can be related to multiple causes, most of them temporary. Can you please attach your Launcher log file to this bug next time the error happens?
You can find the log file in %APPDATA%\.minecraft_dungeons\launcher_log.txt
Hi,
Based on the Launcher log you shared, it seems that the game is already running by the time the Play button is clicked. Please check if there's any Minecraft Dungeons process (not the Launcher process) running, on Windows Task Manager, and try to stop that process before starting the game.
Hi,
The latest Dungeons Launcher version (2.1.15036) has an improved game installation logic, which should make it more robust and potentially mitigate issues like the ones reported in this bug.
Please let us know if you're still experiencing the same problems with game download and installation.
Hi all,
Please refer to the note pinned to the description of this bug report for guidance. It should help you verify that the "Launcher version" of the game has been purchased and that you are using the same Microsoft account that owns the game to sign-in to the Launcher.
If you are still experiencing this issue and you have verified that everything seems correct according to the note above, please contact Mojang support at https://help.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/requests/new.

A fix for the issue that was causing the Launcher to crash on that scenario is now available in the latest Dungeons Launcher version (2.1.15376).
