I am unable to install Optifine and other mods onto the launcher

Optifine Launcher cannot find file: launcher_profiles.json

i tried reinstalling the: .minecraft file multiple times, and even i cant find this file.

I have the same issue, you can fix by your own this issue renaming the file launcher_profiles_microsoft_store.json to launcher_profiles.json. After the forge/optifine installation remember to rename back the file to his original name. This Works for me. Note: This is a temporary fix until the devs fix this issue. (I don't know why microsoft added the "microsoft-store" label after most of the minecraft files making everything seemly imcompatible)

Can confirm the new launcher does not recognize optifine in the installations naturally

You can manually add it with the add installation button in the launcher, iirc this is how you have to do it with optifine

When you manually add installation and then click play, my computer blue screens on Windows 11 (at least for me) every time, and when I reboot my installations are gone

as far as BSOD goes, refer to MCL-19992
