Opening 'skins' tab cause's the launcher to freeze.

Could you answer few questions regarding this issue, it will help with the investigation: 

• Does this issue occur on Windows 7/8 version or MS store version of the Launcher?

• Are you logged in in both MS store and Launcher with the same MS account? 

• Is your Windows and associated apps (Xbox app, MS store) up-to-date (Please check regardless)? 

• Do you have enough free space on your disc drive?

• Please try updating/downgrading JDK java.

• Also please uninstall the Launcher, delete .minecraft folder (copy its content elsewhere before deletion) and then reinstall the Launcher.

• Please also install Xbox app, Xbox companion and Xbox identity provider and sign in with the same account that you are logged in on MS store and in Launcher.

• Do you use VPN or any of the incompatible software on machine you try to log-in?  

• Remember to restart your computer.

• Could you provide us with more in-depth repro steps?

Hello, yes i will state the answers to your questions.

• The issue occurs on both windows 7/8 and the MS store launcher version.

• i logged into both when testing it out, but uninstalled the MS store after i found it still happens on both launchers.

• My windows is associated with xbox, it shows my xbox profile when signing into minecraft through Microsoft.

• I have enough available space on my drive.

• I have updated my java, and the problem still persists.

• I did uninstall, deleted the .minecraft folder (saved it somewhere else as suggested), this issue still perists.

• I have the xbox app installed, and signed into it.

• i have a VPN but it's turned off. as for the incompatible software i do have discord, nvidia geforce experience and razer synapse, but i haven't had an issue with either of those when playing minecraft.

• I already restarted my computer, i still can not access my skins in the launcher.

Here's the repro:

1. Start the launcher.

2. Click the 'Skins' tab.

3. 'Skins' tab opens, but appears blank which causes the minecraft windows 7/8 launcher to freeze.

4. Minecraft launcher freezes, making everything unclickable besides pressing the 'X' red button which closes the minecraft launcher.

Do you have installed any mods?
Do you have Minecraft for windows installed?

Hello, i did as you suggested.

• I exited all apps. Nvidia geforce, razer and turned off discord too.

• Not sure about the mods i have installed? they're mainly FPS boosters, like fabric API, Iris, and Better F3.

• I do not have Minecraft for windows installed.

• I have both Xbox companion and Xbox identity provider installed.

Please delete all the mods, since this board deals only with with issues on vanilla Launcher 🙂
Delete mods and restart the Launcher.

Sorry to hear you're having the same problem i was having! i think they updated the launcher with adding/removing techo's crown, cause when they did that, that's when the problem happened. you should also contact the official minecraft customer support as well to see if they can help.

Here's what i would do to temp fix this issue if you can't access your skins from the skin tab:

1. Go to the Official Minecraft website (Sign in).

2. Hover over your username, click 'profile'.

3. Click "My games", you should see a image that says "minecraft java edition" (or which one you have).

4. Then click "Change skin", scroll down until you see the "upload custom skin" section! don't forget to click the respective steve or alex model for the skin and click "select file", locate where you downloaded your skins, either it be in the 'download' tab or in a file where you saved it. select your skin, click 'open' then 'upload' and then it should be in-game! 🙂

No, not yet! I've just had this issue happen to me AGAIN. not sure mojang has created an "official fix" yet. cause this is still happening. 😞

UPDATE: The issue seems to be fixed! hopefully it stays this way!
