This issue is caused by Warsaw, a Brazilian bank plugin. Uninstall it to fix the issue (source).
The bug
When I click "Play" in the launcher window, the game loads, but it doesn't start.
Launcher reports exit code 0 (no errors)

@unknown, your problem is MC-23484.
Something that I noticed is that before this started happening, I had gotten an error message regarding Java, during the loading before the game opens. I tried fixing Java, removing older versions, reinstalling Java, reinstalling Minecraft and none worked. After that, the game doesn't even load and the issue happens.

but this only happens with the newlauncher(2.0.1003 (Windows) the oldlauncher works perfectly could you explain us? Please!
Okay, first that it's a bit frustrating that the mods are taking more time to delete messages than to try to solve the issue somehow.
Second that, judging by the names, most or all people with this issue are Brazilian. Is this a regional problem? Why is it happening?
hard to understand how this still havent been fixed, i think the only missing information on this report is:
The issue started for me on 01/03/2018 around 10 pm GMT-3, a few of my friends also started to have the same issue on that day, so it was probably a broken update or something.
The legacy launcher still working fine, so the issue is not the game, just the launcher, the game was working fine, nothing was changed on the computer at all, i simply closed it and it wouldnt open anymore. no windows updates where made that day.
All the basic attempts to fix this issue have been without success, like removing recently installed software, removing/reinstaling java, temporary files cleanup.. and all those other thing that are usualy useless have been atempted by many people without success.
As noted by the user above this looks more likely to be a regional issue, as I am from Brazil and mostly everyone else here too, the initial reports of this problem were also reported in portuguese.

I fixed the bug. As I realized that the majority that were affected were Brazilian users, I decided to uninstall the Warsaw (bank plugin) that is usually used to access Brazilian banks.
1) I uninstalled Warsaw.
2) restart the PC
3) Repair Minecraft by MinecraftInstaller.msi (game installer).
4) Run the game normally.
It worked out for me. I hope it helps.
Eu consertei o Bug. Como eu percebi que a maioria que foram afetados eram usuarios brasileiros, resolvi desinstalar o Warsaw (plugin de banco) que geralmente é usado para acessar bancos brasileiros.
1) desinstalei o Warsaw.
2) reinicieo o PC
3) Faça a reparação do Minecraft pelo MinecraftInstaller.msi (instalador do jogo).
4) Rode o jogo normalmente.
Deu certo para mim. Espero que ajude.
