Lighting bug when under water

When I'm under water at the very bottom, like 5 or 6 blocks down, I look up and see this. See photo attached.

@unknown, that is unloaded chunks, not lighting issue.

@unknown The chunks are already loaded. I'm just standing there. Test this for yourself.

Check your render distance, if it's low, then the chunks might just be unloaded. The lighting in minecraft isn't distributed in chunks; the lighting in this "bug" IS defined by the chunks (the squares on the top are chunks, but the faded bottom in the correct lighting for underwater areas. In other words, if the lighting was really incorrect, then the bottom part of the slit would be sqaurish too.

Confirmed on 0.13.1 / iOS while I'm still not sure whether it's a bug or not. Render distance indeed affects the phenomenon; loaded chunks are rendered darkly (as expected) while unloaded chunks are skipped by the renderer, hence the sky being seen on the horizon. I have a feeling that this isn't really correct because unloaded chunks are rendered this way only when the player is in deep water. If you are just below the water surface, nothing glitchy happens to chunks far away from you.
