Disappearing wood blocks

Can you please investigate this issue thoroughly, I've been playing around with one of my creative mode worlds in single player and some wooden blocks mysteriously vanished, despite the remaining wood blocks not being on fire.

Also Creepers are non hostile in creative mode so this can't be the reason why this is happening.

And on a different world that is on survival this happened to one of my friends fishing shacks, even if a Creeper had exploded, the majority of the time the water would have nullified the explosion, what I'm saying is usually there is some evidence of griefing.

Please look into this extensively, and not just report back with "cannot reproduce" in one day after I write this comment, because there have been other people who experienced issues with certain blocks vanishing into thin air as well and there is obviously some sort of error going on that causes things to vanish without a trace at random, no set in stone length of time, and without warning.

and as far as I know this bug appears to be exclusive to bedrock edition

in Java placed blocks seem to be more stable as there had been less complaints about issues like this. I've got backup files for my worlds but this is beside the point really, 1.16.221 is not very stable and blocks should not be vanishing at random, no wood blocks, not stone, iron, chests or their contained items etc. Stability is important for any game not just Minecraft.

In order to investigate an issue we need to be able to reproduce it, and to eliminate any possibility that blocks were removed by other players, etc. Please clarify the Description section above, using this format:
Steps to Reproduce:
1. (be complete and precise so someone else can repeat your exact steps)
2.
3.
Observed Results:
(briefly describe what actually happens, including exact message(s) shown)
Expected Results:
(briefly describe what should happen)

(add screenshots or video to help explain the issue)

This ticket has been temporarily closed as Awaiting Response. It will automatically reopen when you add information. Please follow the format shown and include all sections (steps, observed, expected). Tickets that do not contain all of the requested information and complete steps to reproduce the issue may be closed as Incomplete. For more information please read the Bug Tracker Guidelines.

If it may help since I was on this AGTRigorMortis' survival realm when an instance of the bug occured with a wooden fishing shack I built out of oak and spruce wood with the roof being made of andesite, I'll explain my instance of the matter. The world in question was on Bedrock version 1.16.221, us both being on Windows 10.

Since I had a fishing shack on AGT's realm, I was using it while he was in the water killing drowned for XP and gold ingots. He had past by the shack at the water's surface at least once, which he would've noticed any damage done to the shack at the time if there was any, which there was not.

Rain (Not a Thunderstorm) started, and multiple times in the shack I stopped fishing to put supplies and items in the shack's multiple barrels and chests. During the rain, the shack was still fine, no damage.

Upon the rain stopping, I stopped to put some enchanted rods and bows I fished out of the water into chests when I found a bunch of oak and spruce planks as well as a couple of jungle wood slabs missing on the one corner of the fishing hut. My parrot due to this was missing as well as it had to fallen into the water as an end result and got sucked into magma blocks below.

Lightning from a thunderstorm was ruled out as there was only rain and that the roof is made of andesite. So I initially thought a Creeper may have done this by maybe being accidentally hit by a Drowned with a Trident who may have been trying to kill a Wandering Trader (As there were three Trader Llamas nearby) and blew up on it in retaliation next to the hut.

In a creative world I loaded up to test this, I put the circumstances together and found out that this infact can happen, that a Creeper will aggro a Drowned if hit by it's Trident and will explode on it if it gets close enough due to this. Initially I was satisfied with this conclusion until my friend here showed me what had happened in his Creative World.

So,

Steps to Reproduce (In my instance):
1. Build a fishing shack out of wooden planks and slabs with a stone based roof (I used Andesite for the roof, jungle wooden slabs for the floor and a combination of spruce and oak planks for the walls)
2. Mobproof the fishing shack by having sweet berries on the land infront of it and magma blocks in the water around it. Also have a tamed cat sitting on the front porch and a tamed parrot inside. Have chests inside to store items in as you see fit. Also add a furnace, ender chest, bed, crafting table, and grindstone.
3. While another player is in the water killing drowned and collecting the drops, start fishing and continue to fish until it starts raining without a thunderstorm.
4. Fish through the rain

Observed Results:
Wooden planks and slabs randomly disappear from the fishing hut without any reason to it.

Expected Results:
The fishing shack should be intact with no missing wooden blocks or slabs.

It seems possible that lightning struck the parrot in the shack through the roof and burned up some of the wall, since MCPE-121688 is confirmed. Likewise for whatever mob may have been in the structure shown in the attached screenshot.

If it was either a creeper or a lightning, it should have been audible. However, if your sound was not on, how would you know there was only rain and not a thunderstorm?

lizking10152011

@GoldenHelmet My sound was on. I didn't see any flashes of light or lightning itself in my instance on AGT's survival Realm, so it would seem highly unlikely that the NBT value for LightningTime would trigger right at the end and have one single bolt do what you're suggesting. If my instance was not a glitch, I would lean towards what I stated still, that a Creeper was hit by a Trident from a Drowned near the surface by accident trying to get a Wandering Trader (As there were three Llamas in the water) and detonated on the Drowned and likely the trader as well due to it being close enough and dealing damage to the shack.

Sound has been rather interesting since Bedrock 1.16 as it seems many sounds have been updated to be '3D' if you will (This is a reference to Morrowind in terms of some sounds being this), meaning that they are typically the loudest if you are near the source of the sound and looking in the source direction. If you aren't looking in the direction of the source of the sound, it isn't going to be as loud, and in some cases you outright won't hear it at all. If this is a bug in itself, then let me know please.

I submitted my instance to help AGT's case as what he showed me afterwards from his Creative World may suggest a bug is going on in the game. I felt any information since I had something of the sort happen on another one of his worlds would be beneficial to the report just incase.

I managed to get some photos as well of the fishing shack as I built it to give you an idea as well. The first two images are the front and back of the hut's exterior.

The third photo (Which is where I was fishing) shows the door where you can hang out and fish to your heart's content.

The fourth photo shows the Magma Blocks under the fishing hut.

The fifth and sixth photos show the interior of the hut. Note where the green parrot was as part of the wall behind it as well as two jungle slabs were missing upon this potential bug happening. I'm not sure if these photos of how I built my shack or what is around it will help, but I'm submitting them just incase.

I didn't see flashes of lightning either, and it was on a Shockbyte server so if there is anything wrong with the physical drives, none of this is our fault either. But we can't prove that, even if there are problems with the Shockbyte hardware.

I doubt it though, and just recently on the minecraftforum somebody else mentioned there are vanishing fences, which is an issue I had once assumed got fixed, but it didn't so it would seem. Look I understand there's a thing called bitrot, and that can't be helped no matter how well coded the software is or how well designed hardware is, but you'd think after all this time Minecraft would have some way to compensate for some errors in the game, if chkdsk is capable of fixing some errors, then surely there's a way to design a game to do it too.

Related/a duplicate of MCPE-112420?

GoldenHelmet

This isn't MCPE-112420 because that is about blocks disappear right away when placed. What is reported here is blocks that were part of a built structure for a long time disappearing. It's more similar to MCPE-95162 and MCPE-118824.

See, I've experienced this, and it is quite hard to reproduce. It seems to be random, and that's why it never gets payed attention to. I just reported a door disappearing in creative mode, and I have absolutely no idea how to reproduce it.

It is random, so it would seem. That's why it hasn't been patched yet, it might just be a case of bitrot, but even then, that's what error correction is for.

I have a suggestion that developers might be able to fix it, although only they truly know a solution.

What if they were to force save files to keep at least 1 duplicate copy of player placed blocks, and then make comparisons?

if the other copy has a non air block at such and such coordinates, then since it is very likely the player

placed a solid block there (whether it be wood, stone, sand or dirt)

, put the solid block back where it belonged.

if they want to keep file sizes down, then only do it on structures with a door or gate nearby.

GoldenHelmet

Has anyone experienced this since the 1.17 update?
