Lava casting for a vertical column doesn't work.

So I've seen a couple bugs here that were closed due to not being in the proper format, so I will attempt to remedy that here.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. create a + sign high in the air out of dirt

  2. place a lava source in the middle

  3. place a dirt block above the lava (probably easier to do this first and punch a hole for the lava)

  4. wait for the lava to flow to the bottom

  5. place a bucket of water above the block above the lava

(Alternatively, you could place water and lava in the walls as shown in the attached photo from one of the previous bugs)

Observed Results:

Just the top turns into cobble and any falling lava is not turned into cobble. Β This doesn't seem to happen if an entire staircase is built.

Expected Results:

I would expect all the falling lava to turn into a tower of cobble like it does in Java.

Β

I don't see any documentation to indicate that Bedrock should behave differently for this specific use case (that is often critical behavior in skyblock worlds and resource generation). Β It means most of the lava casting videos out there describing how to do things in minecraft do not apply to Bedrock which leads to player frustration.

Due to some other tickets, this also seemed to affect 1.16.220.52 Beta

Other bugs closed due to not containing the steps to reproduce.

Thanks for uploading this with a bit more detail

It might be clearer if you showed pictures of the actual structure you are trying to build, before and after adding the water.

Is this still an issue in the latest version (1.17.10)? If so, can you please add it to the affected versions (or mention it if you are not the reporter).

Cleaning up old tickets: This ticket had been set to 'Awaiting Response', but has not received a response from the reporter (~3 months+) so is being closed as Incomplete.
