No sugar cane in Old World (survival).

Hello. I recently started playing Minecraft a few weeks ago. I am playing the "old world" and noticed there are no sugar canes growing anywhere in my world. I have searched all the boundaries of the world and have no found any sugar canes (under water, along coastlne, on the ground, everywhere). I have created a "infinate" world and have seen them, but load back into the old world game, and still no sugar canes. Is this intended? Are there supposed to be no sugar canes in the old world version? Thank you for all your help =)

Are you talking about just one seed because if so, you probably just got unlucky.

No I am talking about the whole Sugar cane plant. The plant that you find along coast lines and wherever they are supposed to appear. The sugar cane plant does not spawn or appear in my game to harvest at all therefore I don't have any seeds to plant. I have 2 pieces of sugar in my inventory right now because a zombie dropped it after I killed it, but that is as close as I have gotten to anything involving sugar. I have held onto them to make a recipe, but I need more sugar, but I cannot find sugar canes at all in my game whatsoever. I was wondering if my "old world" game is not supposed to have sugar canes growing, or are they supposed to be there and I don't see them because I am bugged?

@@unknown: are you only testing this in one old world? Limited levels are simply not large enough to generate every structure, and therefore it is not uncommon to create one without sugar canes.

Not always you will get sugar cane in an Old World. It's the same luck if you want to get Forest, Jungle, Desert, cacti, etc.
