MCPE-141499

Too many pillagers and golems can spawn at outpost.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Set render distance to 8 and turn on the autosave icon in video settings.

  2. Create a world with seed 74407, simulation distance 6, and coordinates enabled.

  3. /tp 620 100 736

  4. Make a pillar to mark your location so that it is visible while flying.

  5. Fly westward for about 50-100 blocks (-X), then back toward your pillar.

  6. While the autosave icon is on (showing that autosave is happening), fly past your pillar heading eastward (+X) until you arrive at the outpost.

Expected result

Outpost generates one iron golem in each cage, and one squadron of pillagers.

Observed result

Outpost generates more than one iron golem and more than one squadron of pillagers. See

Description:

It seems that too many mobs are spawning at some outposts I had:

6 pillager captains

about 30 regular pillagers

8 iron golems ( 2 cages had 4 each)

I’m not too sure how to reproduce this one as it doesn’t always happen I’m using an xbox series x and playing multiplayer.

Please give the world seed and any other details you have such as local world/server/reams, sequence of events, and direction how you approached the outpost from.

Seed: 74407 (Was randomly generated by imputing "KIE" into the seed

World was created today 17/09/2021 using an Xbox Series X

Difficulty: Normal

Online Multiplayer (Me (On Xbox Series X) and one other player (On Xbox One))

Outpost location: 815, 90, 761

Travelled from 1221, 89, 566 -> past a village -> the outpost

I went back to the outpost on creative by myself and it was normal and this has only ever happened to me whilst playing online multiplayer and has happened on other worlds and at different outposts on this seed.

I also tested it on a LAN connection and it had a normal amount of mobs.

Just added a video of me walking up to the outpost where you can see the mobs load in about 11 Pillagers and a cage of the iron golems are visible, a lot of the Pillagers spawned on the other side the second iron golems cage is also on that side.

I have seen this occur on Switch in the past, but not sure about the repro. Possibly could be triggered by approaching an outpost that generates across multiple chunks from different directions, where only part of the outpost comes within simulation distance the first time.

Another possible trigger could be approaching an outpost during an auto-save.

UPDATE: autosave is the trigger, in conjunction with the chunk generation at the edge of render distance triggered by tile entities.

Turns out the steps to reproduce MCPE-23416 and MCPE-97295 are equivalent.
