Lava now acts like water to where certain non-full blocks will contain it to where it usually would eat through it and continue moving. Im not sure if it lets you if you try in the flowing lava, but it lets you if you place it before the lava spreads out from the source block.

Buttons have always behaved this way, and pointed dripstone is presumably not flammable, since it is made of stone.
