Entities more than 70 blocks away are not visible in spyglass

Note: the LOD for distant blocks being unaffected by the spyglass is tracked at MCPE-126338. This report raises the same issue for entities. The only difference is that entities have a fixed render distance of the lesser of 70 blocks or simulated chunk range, which is not affected by the render distance video setting.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Spawn a villager inside a glass box.

  2. Move 75 blocks away straight along any axis (X, Y, or Z).

  3. Use a spyglass to look at the glass box.

Expected result

You see the villager. 75 blocks is within the shortest available render distance in the game of 5 chunks, so you can still see the glass.

Observed result

You cannot see the villager, only the glass box.

When using a spy glass blocks/mobs become invisible or are not fully rendered if the player is 70 blocks away.

Steps to reproduce:

Stand 70 blocks away from any of the mentioned items

Use a Spyglass

Observed Results:

Items doesn't show up or is missing parts

Expected Results:

Item renders

I've done some more testing and this effects: 1.) Minecarts, Boats, Conduits, Shulker Boxes, Ender Chests, Trapped Chests, Chests, Beds, Paintings, Signs, Armour Stands, Villagers, Passive & Hostile Mobs, Dropped Items, Thrown Tridents. Also effects 2.) Beacons, Pistons, Sticky Pistons, Bells, Item Frames, Glow Item Frames, Enchantment Table. 3.) Candles

4.) Campfire, Soul Campfire

I've separated these items because they act differently with the Spyglass.

1 = 70 blocks away it goes invisible

2 = 70 blocks away Item renders but is missing parts

3 = 9 blocks away A candles fire goes out

4 = 30 blocks away Campfires Smoke dissappears

More Info: Beacon beams don't render, The front of a Piston dissappears, Bells lose their gold bell, Item Frames render but the item in the frame dissappears. Enchantment tables lose their book.

Every mob goes invisible when 70 blocks away.

Confirmed, but let's keep this report focused on entities since blocks are tracked at MCPE-126338.

Personally, I find that this issue limits the usefulness of the spyglass quite a bit and is counterintuitive. You would expect the spyglass to give you a view of things farther away, but with the entity render limit of 70 and the spyglass zooming in by about 50 blocks, the range where it is actually helpful is very narrow. For mobs closer than about 50-60 blocks the mob fills the entire window so you can't really get information about how it is situated. That leaves just about one chunk of range at ~4 chunks away where the spyglass gives a helpful view of mobs, items, etc.

I would like to note, as my ticket has been closed as a duplicate of this one, that the issue isn't limited to spyglasses but also to normal view, as mobs can appear and dissappear in plain sight as a result of the low entity rendering distance. This isn't an issue in Java as there is an entity rendering distance setting. According to what I can see, it seems that mobs are viewable Max 4 chunks away, and it also seems that they respawn when leaving and entering that distance.

Thank you for your report!
However, this issue is Working as Intended.

The report you have submitted is working as intended: this is the result of the ticking distance. Entities farther away than the ticking distance don't render. This would be a big request for the game to make this change. Players can increase the simulation distance which would allow the mobs to be loaded which would make them visible through the spyglass. This works in Java because the visual distance and ticking distance are exactly the same.

Please note, that mechanics of the game may change between updates.
Things such as graphics, sounds, world creation, biomes, redstone, villagers, and animals may not work the same in current versions.
