The lighting on Powder Snow and Ice is not smooth

Powder snow and ice trigger shadows against adjacent blocks because they are transparent. I’m not sure if there is a block property that makes them also support shadows (causing the inside-the-block shadow pattern shown in the screenshots), or if that’s a bug in the fancy lighting engine.

The bug does still happen in 1.19.22

This bug also occurs when playing minecraft on Xbox one

Can confirm in 1.21.40

Apparently, this has been “fixed” in the latest minecraft update. But I still see smooth lighting issues.
