Hello, I am having a hard and difficult time finding diamonds. Usually when you go below a certain level, such as 0 to -64, diamonds spawn the best there. However, before this hotfix, I was able to find anywhere from 4-8 to 10-12 ores of diamonds in caves anywhere from -38 to -55 (Before I hit lava) Now diamonds are extremely rare and are only 1-2 ores instead of 4-8 ores. We had this problem back in 1.17 where diamonds are extremely extremely rare.

In a huge cave, I was able to only find 1 diamond per 25 minutes, as of right now, I have 11 diamonds within 4 hours of cave exploring. I usually find over three to five stacks (64) of diamonds within 4 hours.
There was a bug in BE 1.18.0/1.18.1 that caused diamonds to be way more common, and then 1.18.2 was released to fix it and that may be the reason you're not finding so much diamonds than before.

Because diamonds can generate across many more vertical (Y) levels than before, it is much harder to find them. Additionally, it is intentional that diamonds are not "exposed" on the walls of caves. We would need a much more extensive analysis to show that diamonds are actually not generating. If you have more information to provide including world seed, range searched and actual numbers of diamonds found, please include this.
