Xbox: Game does not start and says "Do you own this game?

Hello,

After the last update 1.19.3101 today the game does not start and keeps saying "do you own this game?" error(ox803f8001). Playing on Xbox X. The game has even disappeared from my owned games full library. Even though when I go to the store it shows I still own this game. I download it again, it updates then loops same issue.

I have bought this game digitally a long time ago.

I tried many things including : restarting console, hard restart console, reset console and restore to factory settings, uninstall game several times and re-installing but the problem persists. Before the update everything was fine.

I need help with this issue.

Since you are asking for help, you might want to visit Community Support. This bug tracker is not a technical assistance site.

Twitter Mojang Support told me to come here and try to find a solution. But I couldnt find much about this specific issue so I created a new one.

Having this exact same issue as well, with no resolution from Mojang or from Xbox Support.

I'm seeing this exact same issue.  I had ordered the Minecraft Master Collection back in 2019.

I found a temporary work around. The issue arises, at least in my case, if you have a family account or bought the game for a family member or a friend. After the last update the system now confuses the real owner that bought the game.

Even though I bought the game twice (2 copies and have the receipts) for me and my son. Now it only thinks my sons owns under his account. Also, even though we both show ownership in the store. But under owned games library he only has it. I dont.

So what I did is logged both our accounts (have to be both logged) into my Xbox console. Also I made this console "my home xbox" under settings. It now works for both our accounts.

Now I'm having ox803f8001 error code, like everyone else...

My problem with getting error code 0x803f800e "Looks like you need to renew your Xbox Game Pass" has gone away and we've been able to start Minecraft without issue.  Looks like MS or Mojang fixed something on their end.

Hi SAM197706, I was unable to find the Minecraft Master Collection in the store, which was the version I bought. I too had uninstalled Minecraft and couldn't find that collection in the store. I found the order in my list of orders on my Microsoft account and from there I was able to go the Minecraft Master Collection store page and initiate an install to my XBox. This might work for you if you haven't found a way to reinstall Minecraft.

@unknown , thanks for update! 🙂
With the help from several MS support agents, I was able to reinstall the game - for that they "refunded" my previous order and reinstated the game on my account manually. And then I start getting ox803f8001 instead of 0x82d40003, like everyone else here. They assured me that they will work this through and come back to me - they have all the information they need to resolve. It was yesterday, waiting ever since.
And if you are saying the error is gone, I'm going to check right away - who knows, maybe it will start now without an error 🙂

Update: checked, the error is still there, no luck for me yet 😞
