Xbox: Recent worlds are missing after update

Mojang Studios Note

Please see the help article at https://help.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/articles/8386720596365, which mentions that you may see two versions of Minecraft and urges you not to uninstall the game during the update, which may take some time to complete.

minecraft worlds unable to load and not update to on saves yet the game has all my purchases on character stuff etc up to date my skin is fine and my achievements are all up to date as i have them all etc

only just a day ago i was playing the game normally enjoying my long lasting survival world on my xbox but as of yesterday night (it’s the next morning as i write this) i loaded up my xbox and my Minecraft was said to need a update so as it is the game “began” updating the progress bar didn’t go up after some time so i decided to restart my xbox which once done the progress bar of the update went up and so on and so on until it was “ready to start”/ completed update so we you do i clicked the game to load it however this time the start up was different it was asking me “first time player questions” like do i want narrator on and wot do u want to set your safe zone etc etc. Even though the game remembered and saved all my achievements and skins as seen in the files attached my worlds weren’t there the only worlds i had access to seeing were black and white thumbnail-ed again as seen in my attached files and the saved were from 2021 and 2020 and my recent worlds were gone. I’ve lost my hard-work and comfort of my multi year worked on world which it’s now gone and did cause me great distress seeing it’s gone so in the simplest from i’m asking for support on getting access to my worlds like normal again as i don’t rlly want to start a new world as the memories i have attached to this world too it’s tremendous thank you ! i was told by one helping to uninstall and then reinstall yet a post later made after that advice said not to do so especially if your saved data is over 4gb. the game remembers my skin and stuff everytbing is uodate apart from my worlds are gone which is devastating

Any resolution for this?  I have the same problem.

I'm having the same problem.

Prior to this, over the last week or so, I've had issues where it wouldn't update the world to the cloud when quitting out of the world (resolved by quitting the game, restarting, loading the world and quitting the world again).

Additionally, after running the update (which installed Minecraft on my Xbox again), I was getting kicked out of my world with an error that roughly said "Not enough storage space..." with a Magenta/Black Square checkerboard pattern in the background, and I'm also getting the "Not enough storage space" error on my Xbox for other games, related to the cloud storage bug that was supposed to have been resolved recently, but now seems to be back. I've deleted countless back-ups in response to that in recent weeks.

Lastly, I had 5 worlds (1 main, 4 remaining back-ups). Two are old (over a year), and remain (but neither syncs), and the 3 that are most recent (about 1.5 GB each) have now seemingly combined into one world in the list that is 3.5 GB. That one also doesn't sync.

Does anyone solve the problems or just mark as resolved duplicated? I can't find any actual resolutions on here at all?

It's not resolved... It happened to me and it just happened to my friend. Sucks because I do a lot of coding/modding, and just lost a 3-year project due to the update. There's no way to get it back unfortunately. Once the world is corrupt there's really no way of getting it back.

If you haven't reset or cleared local saves I found a way to get the worlds.
Do not reset console or clear local saves until you copy the files.

I added ADV Files (full trust) and copied all of my worlds from the folder. I used a tutorial to find the files on the xbox. I copied them to a thumb drive that I had formatted on my pc. I then pasted the worlds into the minecraftworlds folder on my pc and my phone. The worlds work perfectly on both the pc and the phone. I then created a realm and uploaded the worlds to the realm and then back to the Xbox. Now I have backups everywhere.
There is still a world sync issue to cloud, so basically no cloud saves until they fix the bug.

They are no longer using the old folder to store the world files on the xbox or there is an issue with it saving because I wanted to paste the worlds back into the packages folder I had previously gotten them from but it was no longer there maybe that's where the bug comes from?

AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.MinecraftUWP_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\games\com.mojang\

The packages folder is no longer listed.

1.19.40 does nothing to fix any of the above issues. Still can not play due to worlds not syncing. Can not even load up minecraft in most tries because of lack of storage save space in minecraft ( pink/ black screen error message)

If when I can get the game to load ( not even attempt to try to sync a world) in I get both Xbox error no save data space and minecraft.

As I have zero 0 nil games available to me to even choose one as they are all greyed out, I wonder exactly what data is being “used” to fill this imaginary space?

I am also having this issue. Spoke to Microsoft support they recommended a factory reset of my xbox.. (Saving game data) I did have the two versions of minecraft on my games list, but after the reset one has disappeared. Spoke to Minecraft support then and they told me to come here.. What is the next step to solvintg this issue? Everything is the same as the top post - however i have uninstalled my minecraft and reinstalled. Are my worlds lost? - The minecraft game that i have now has old worlds from 2021 and 2020.. presumably these weren't updated to the new version of minecraft (After the update..) Am i able to get my newer worlds back - As in my mind they're on the new version of minecraft somewhere..

I have also had many issues with sync process and lost some long term worlds or they have become corrupted. After a complete re-install of Minecraft (by this stage I had nothing more to lose) I still get the "cant upload world.." error.

Still a bug via the newest update. Can a mod please update it!

The bug is a cloud problem on the main games end. Works fine on preview. I’m even able to access worlds that I haven’t been able to access for years on the main game, so preview is doing something right, where the main game is getting it wrong.

Perhaps the devs should look into the differences in the code between the main game and preview, when it comes to world saving, world file accessing, syncing, etc…

I might also state that https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MCPE-162920 is similar to this post, with the two sharing a common problem.

It’s now on 1.19.63 still a bug still no change I really don’t want to 7 years of a world
