An error message pops up that says I'm out of storage space and it quits to the menu. The menu now has a black and purple background. The world is 1.3 GB, total save file size is 1.6 GB after deleting as much as I can. Theres >660 GB available on the XBOX system. I tried hard reboot on the system to no avail.
Steps to recreate: (sorry can't be more detailed here)
Have a world ~1.3 GB in size
play for a few minutes until error pops up

I have the exact same issue. It will not even try to sync.
minecraft help told me it was an Xbox issue, Xbox tell me it’s absolutely a minecraft issue but no one wants to help.

If it helps, smaller worlds still seem to work fine, and I can create new worlds. Its just the large world that is an issue.

Yep, same problem here, black and purple screen and not syncing.
Hope its fixed soon.

This is as a result of developers, in their rush for release, not fully testing a so called "update" before release. It must be a minecraft issue, if they had fully tested before release and discovered the huge problem they would then have resolved the issue with Xbox. Funnily enough, part of the same organisation.

does this happen on other devices like windows

Re: @unknown
I play on xbox, couldn't tell ya

Is this still unresolved? I don't want to check by entering the world in case something happens. I'd hate to lose the world I've spent a long time creating and exploring. Sigh.

Still unresolved, so far it hasn't completely bullocksed the world, only crashes after some time depending on how far you explore and how much bigger the world gets. You'll get some extra time I've noticed from time to time as it seems there's some compression or something going on every so often ... I've noticed the world bounces between 1.3 and 1.6 gigs but never goes over 1.6 so thats fun 😣

Just tried it out on most recent update, this time I got 'disconnected due to world corruption' after 20 mins. Game quit to main menu, looks normal but background is black. World would not load and gave error 'there was a problem with this world'. Restarted game and tried again and world loaded, but for how long! 🤣

The game keeps crashing with the following error: "you are out of data storage space and Minecraft is unable to save your progress! Minecraft will return you ot the main menu to clear up storage space." I have removed all previous worlds as they would not load after the last update and I have plenty of space on my XBOX. How do I fix this issue so that I can continue playing the game?
I get the pink and black screen after about 10 minutes of playing. I have tried everything you have suggested including... power cycling my Xbox, clearing the saved data, uninstalling and reinstalling the game.
I don't understand why when I go to manage game storage that it is always at 3.8 or 3.9 gb. I clear everything, load my world which is about 990 mb and ten minutes later I get the pink screen saying there is no more room to save data.
I have 1 world, deleted the rest. Have zero mods or texture packs, and have 600 gb available on my Xbox

Are we going to receive any type of update as to what is being done to look into this issue?

Now having issues with a world that has been working just fine for the last 2 weeks as long as I don't travel too far from spawn. Am I going to lose this world as well? Can we please get some sort of update? This is very frustrasting to people that have spent months or years building. I get that you may not have narrowed down the issue, but an update now and then as to what is being worked on would be greatly apprececiated! Support is not looking great here and will impact the company greatly!

Still an issue with 1.19.51.
Hoping someday this gets fixed, I miss my world 😥

Yeah this is a huge issue and needs to be fixed asap. It affects any world over a couple of MB, and just full on provides no access to the world. Like I like the smaller update of bamboo blocks, but the sole focus of Mojang right now is new entities when the ones we currently have are supper bugged, broken, or dissapearing. PLEASE Mojang/Microsoft, focus on the bigger picture and the bigger issues. I think the majority of the community would prefer the annual big update to be major fixes suggested by the community, both Java and Bedrock, and making some massive headway on parody.

Isn't it about time this issue is resolved? So many people can't access their worlds.

My friend's world is at 1gb and it is having the same issue. We have tried everything we could but it isn't working.

Just went out to purchase an Xbox Series S, thinking this issue was due to my older Xbox One being incapable of operating Minecraft. Fine, I thought. I've had this machine for 8 or so years, I can accept needed to upgrade every few years to keep up with updates, etc. After playing for a bit, the pink and black screen showed up anyway. I refuse to accept that I can no longer play my world I've spent hundreds of hours in. As paying customers who expect a functioning game, we need a fix for this issue, or an announcement from Mojang explaining it.

Still an issue since the update of 5 October 2022.
My world is around 900 mb and I get the error everytime I use the elytra for a long time, then a pink and black screen appear
s and the game kicks me to main menu.
Usually is just annoying because I quit and restart the game and the world woks again, but this time when I went back I noticed that my 3 FULL SHULKER BOXES got deleted for no reason. I'm so pissed since I lost tons of materials for my project

@loris Probably lost the shulkers because you were between the last save point and the crash, thats happened to me several times.
I test the world with each update and it usually crashes the farther I go from where I started. I have 2 bases 1000's of blocks away that I travel between via the nether. The test is to go between bases and see if it crashes, which it does, usually halfway between. If I restart everything it picks up near the crash (where ever the last autosave occurred I presume) and I can keep going, but its become quite predictable: Start at base 1, crash halfway along my nether path, restart near last crash, get to base 2 and crash.
The error that pops up is either 'world corrupted' or 'out of storage space', both with the same purple/black background (out of storage error in pic below)
Has anyone tried anything to work around this? I'm debating about a fresh install in hopes of also fixing the load times (~20 minutes from loading minecraft to ready to play world) with the faint hope that magically fixes things. I've tried removing old worlds at one point, but still same. I would try playing on my Swtitch, but theres 2 gig limit on size of all worlds combined on there (thats the reason I switched to xbox), so no dice. Any other ideas or things anyone has tried?

I have had this e-mail from Support, looks like they are working on a fix! Finally some coms!

Tried again after 1.19.70 installed. The world crashed within 1 minute with a 'corruped world' error. Tried again with 1.19.71 and the game crashes after showing another version of purple black blocky screen. Tried a couple times with the same result each time.

After the world got corrupted, i attempted to upload to realms. After 4 or 5 tries it seemed like it worked, however can't access it on realms though (just kind sits there for hours with a 'fetching realms info' screen. But, the size of the world dropped to 1.2gigs, so it did something. I'm now able to load into the world again, but there are missing chunks throughout the landscape and the same crash still occurs 😞
While this did not fix the problem, I'm at least able to load the world and despite the missing chunks, was able to confirm the issue still exists with the latest update

Purple and black texture means missing textures. No freaking idea how the heck that happened w/ just low storage.

This is even happening on the minecraft preview and causing storage errors with the Xbox and not just the game. Why can't they acknowledge this after 7 months.

Well, it appears that Mojang, Xbox and Microsoft do not care about this issue not fixed in the last update.
I'm considering talking to a solicitor to see if there is any compensation due for the lost days of game input. If you would like to be part of a class action tag your name to this post.

Mack, before you go down the legal route read Microsoft Terms & Conditions. Also I think the problem is Xbox because I've had the same issues with other games.

I got this issue a few days ago. pretty much the exact same thing happened that is shown in the images. Though there is one weird thing, unlike the third image's broken menu, mine is different, the moving backround in the main menu goes all black, for whatever reason, but the rest of the menu is completely fine.

DarkestDock675 Pretty sure I've seen that one before. It manifests itself in many different ways, the purple background is the most frequent though. Hoping someday this gets solved, it'd be nice to get back on the old world 🙂

This problem occurs with other games, so I suspect that it's a problem with Xbox consoles.

Thanks Ron, It must be the software as I have tried this load on 2 different machines. I'll try hounding Xbox.

What's so annoying about this problem, Microsoft owns both Xbox and Minecraft yet they've done nothing to resolve the problem. At the heading of this posting they list other posts that they say are duplicates and mark them as resolved yet the problem has persisted for months and remains UNRESOLVED. So many of us are unable to continue playing Minecraft - it really sucks !!

Along with this issue, I am also experiencing an issue where when I save a world it says “world upload failed would you like to try again?”. When this happens there are two options, retry and cancel. Retrying does nothing. When you press cancel it usually will still save the world though. This issue started the same time the other one did. Because of this, I’m pretty sure these go hand in hand. Please fix this Mojang. I cannot play because of these issues.

Yesterday on July 12th 2023 Mojang has finally resolved the worst part of this issue. Today they announced in the bedrock preview that this specific bug was addressed and seemingly taken care of. I did some testing on my own however and the world still fails to sync. Nevertheless I am once again able to play on my world and I hope the rest of you are as well. My world is 1.6 gb.

Having Read some of the latest reviews on here, on the 31/7/23 I uninstalled the Game and reinstalled it hoping it would work. The game sync'd ok and my save was still there, it even loaded.
That is where the good news ends, 2 seconds in to the game and the same old problem occurred.
SO NO IT IS NOT FIXED!

can confirm on windows 11, over 2 tb of storage available 1.20.12

STILL NOT FIXED
