Placing blocks at y=256 is inconsistent and laggy on realms and solo world

I took my bubble elevator from y=100 to y=256 and at the top after I place or destroy a few blocks the game stop consistently placing or destroying blocks and I have the air bubble like I'm in water but I am not in water.

I have been having similar issues with a sky base I have in singleplayer. Chests and other GUIs don't always open straight away. Blocks don't break or place properly. Occasionally I might fall through blocks on logging into the world. Only seems to happen above the old build height of y=256.

Issue is still happening. I got stuck in a respawn loop in my survival world. If I wanted to keep my items my options were: A) Go into creative and move my spawn point and then use a external tool to trick the game into thinking I never went into creative OR B) I wait until this bug is fixed before playing that world again.

I would really like to see this fixed.

This happens to me too, on a solo world and on a realm. Just noticed with 1.19.73 when building a floating island.

Steps to reproduce it:

  1. Build at 1 block thick platform in the air so you're standing at Y=256.

  2. Place a block. Doesn't matter what the level of the block is, it only matters that you're standing at Y=256

Observed results:

  • On bedrock server (as the only player on the server), the block is placed and I immediately fall one block through the floor. When standing on a scaffolding stack, I move one block lower on the stack. If standing on a one block wide ledge, I fall off.

  • On local games, bubbles briefly appear (as though I'm stuck inside a block) but I don't fall.

This is extremely reliable. Every single time I place a block while standing at Y=256, it's as though I momentarily fall through the floor. The amount of lag to the server seems to determine whether or not I fall through or just momentarily suffocate.

Destroying blocks while standing at Y=256 works fine.

A workaround is jumping and placing the block while in the air.

I can confirm that building at this height gives the player damage. Last time it killed me the oxygen bubbles flashed up and left the message that the player had died from falling even though I died at height Y = 256.

I'm having the same issue placing blocks at around y=254 to 246 where when I place a block and it flickers the same way as shown in the video my character will take a slight bit of damage and a few seconds later I die and die from "fell from a high place". (I'm placing half slabs at the height if it matters, but it seems like it happens with full blocks too.) So far building above y=256 seems to be fine.
