Top and side colors of the Grass Blocks in the Cherry Grove don't match correctly

This is a completely visual issue, so it doesn't impact gameplay at all. However, it is something that took my attention.

Preview 1.19.80.20 added Cherry Groves for testing. However, the Grass Block seems to have a wierd comparison of the side and the top colors of the grass part of the block.

Steps to replicate

  1. Create a new world (with Next Major Update experimental gameplay enabled on).

  2. Locate and go to a Cherry Grove biome (if you already has a world already in it, you can also go to it so).

  3. Look very closely to the Grass Block

What i observed was...:

The sides of the grass block look way less "greener" comparated to the top of it, giving a wierd transitioning between those parts.

What i expected was...:

Even if they don't look identical, they would have very similar colors, being the side one not "less green" than the top of the Grass Block.

Important note

As this comment below states, this issue is only about the inconsistent color of side overlay of grass blocks in the Cherry Grove, and is different about inconsistent side overlay of the grass at distinct biomes bordering.

It happens that the inconsistency starts in the entire Cherry Grove, nor in its borders with other biomes.

This issue appears to affect a lot more biomes than just Cherry Grove, and can be observed also in 1.19.63. It is present in any place where two different colors of grass make a transition.

It's missing a color specification. It's actually a pretty simple fix, in the textures folder there is a file named terrain_texture.json. There is a list of grass_side_overlay colors, at the end put in another one with the hex color #b6db61 before the grass_side_snowed. (edit: removed bottom part since the formatting is completely off when I post it)

John's workaround successfully fixes this issue.

Actually, i don't think this issue affects any other biomes; Cherry grove is the only one that i actually noticed a mismatch between the top and side overlay colors...

Unless other biomes are specified here, i don't think any other is also affected.

The title change is incorrect. That is not what the reporter was trying to convey. The transition between biomes is a separate issue. Bedrock edition uses a separate system for grass_side colors which has all of the main biome colors (aka no transition colors) typed out in a list. The cherry Grove biome is the only one without a color assigned to it like every other biome in the game. The entire biome has a inconsistent color on the side and uses the nearest color it can find on the color list. I went and tested it by going to the middle of a cherry grove where no transitions were occuring and it's consistently broken. (Yes it was on the latest beta/preview out during this comment)

Affects in 1.20.0 & 1.20.10.21 Preview

Very sad they let this slide in the official release

1.21.50 betas have introduced the Pale Garden, and the Pale Garden grass color has been added to the grass_side texture array in terrain_texture.json. This makes Grass Block top match the side in the Pale Garden.

The same solution is required to fix the color of Cherry Grove grass side. Simply add this color to the grass_side array: #B6DB61
