Sometimes when I log into one of my worlds that has absolutely no packs enabled, it will display my name as my Microsoft Account name instead of my console name. This started occurring a few minutes ago.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Make sure you are signed into your microsoft account (Create one if needed)
2. Join/Create a world
Observed Result:
Your name should be your microsoft account name.
Expected Result:
Your name should be your platform name.

There is no consistent way to reproduce this bug. Sometimes when I re-enter the world, the name becomes the Xbox ID. Sometimes when I change the skin in the main menu, the name changes to the Nintendo username. But sometimes neither of these methods work.
Before this bug occurred, the ID would always use the Nintendo username (unless you entered a Realm or server), not sometimes the Xbox ID and sometimes the Nintendo username.
I would like to always use the Nintendo username because Switch friends might not know Nintendo friends' Xbox ID, but Xbox friends can find out your Xbox ID by clicking on the user profile on the pause screen.
I have had situations where familiar friends entered the world with their Xbox ID, and I couldn't recognize who they were (later identifying them through the chat).

I can still confirm on switch 1.21.2&1.21.20&1.21.21&1.21.22
According to my observation, when entering your own world, the username is mostly Xbox ID, but when entering a friend's world, it is more often Nintendo username.

I can still confirm this in version 26.1.
In recent versions, as long as a player logs into their Xbox account, their name always shows as their Xbox username. This makes it very difficult for me to distinguish my Switch friends whose IDs are displayed as Xbox names, which confuses and frustrates me greatly. Since I have many Switch friends I don’t know in real life, I often can’t tell who is who.
Recently, whenever I want to join a Switch friend’s world, I log out of my Microsoft account so that my name reverts to my Switch username.
I still want to change it back to the old system where the Switch name is always displayed, and the Xbox user name is only displayed when joining a realm or server.

Can confirm. I tried:
Steps to Reproduce (Switch):
Change Switch username not the same as Microsoft Account's name
Start up the game
If you're not signed in Microsoft Account, sign in or create it
Enter a world
Open the pause menu and check your name
If your name is shown as the Switch username, leave the world and return to step 4
Expected Results:
The name always should be shown as the Switch username
Observed Results:
The name is sometimes shown as the Microsoft Account's name instead of the Switch username
