Opening the in-game chat always causes Minecraft to freeze (the window remains open, but it may have crashed). I cannot move, hear, or do anything in Minecraft Bedrock Edition. The only way to escape from this is to press Alt+Tab or force-quit my computer.
It is very easy to replicate this issue:
Open Minecraft.
Open your world (this issue occurs in both single-player and multiplayer).
Open the chat.
Minecraft crashes!
Updating, recovering, reinstalling, or removing all Minecraft Windows Edition-related files will not solve this problem.
The following steps did not solve the problem:
Restarting my computer.
Disconnecting a controller.
Opening the chat GUI by pressing → on my controller.
Switching Microsoft accounts (I have two Microsoft accounts and purchased Minecraft twice for some reason).
Disabling "Text To Speech with Device Settings," "Text To Speech For UI," "Text To Speech For Chat," and "Enable Open Chat Message."
Disabling in-game screen animations.
Changing languages to Japanese or English.
Pressing the "/" key instead of the "T" key to open the chat.
This issue only occurs on Windows. I have confirmed that this bug does not occur on my smartphone.

I confirmed that turning off Google Japanese Input（Google日本語入力） solved this issue. So I edited the title to be more appropriate.
However, I still want Minecraft to run properly even while I'm using Google Japanese Input.

I and some people including my friends noticed that this problem can be reproduced by opening ANY text input field in Minecraft for Windows when you're using Google Japanese Input (also for Windows).

Do you have any resource/behavior packs active? Any experimentas are active when this issue occur? Does it occur only when using keyboard+mouse or it can be also reproduced using gamepad?

I'm sorry but I coundn't find where to "reply" to your comment so I just add a new comment in response.
I said I have reset ALL MY MINECRAFT DATA, including all resource packs, all behaviour packs, all my worlds, all my settings.
Without experimental mode this issue occurs. This can be reproduced using both mouse + keyboard and a gamepad.
And I also confirmed new issue that trying to press "add a server" also crashes the game, as em74k said.

Turning Google Japanese Input surely solved the problem, thanks! But I still hope Minecraft works well with Google Japanese Input. I'll edit the title of this issue.
Playing on PS4 and have the same freeze issue when opening chat or pause menu.
The behaviour is not consistent - potentially due to lots of operations occuring quickly (block breaking, redstone contraptions) or it could be purely random.
In my environment, the bug was resolved.

In my case, Minecraft clashes when I was trying to add a server.
Then BGM was still playing after no response.
