Chest Crashing my Game!

I'm also experiencing this bug in SINGLE PLAYER (survival and creative). I've 3 chests with the same problem. I've tried to add a hopper leading to a new chest - it started transfering items when suddenly came up to an specific item that, when moved, crashes the game. Also tried to explode it with TNT - same result, game crashes at explosion. Running V0.16.2 on Nexus 4 (LG)

I am having this same issue in Survival.
I had a double chest under two hoppers for a mob spawn trap. If I open chest it would freeze the game. I was able to break one of the chests off and it was fine. I then tried to break the other and it froze. I tried to open the single chest and it froze.
I then recreated the spawn trap directly above the freezing chest and it worked fine for one play session. Now the new setup freezes to desktop if I try to open the double chest. The original chest that froze the game still freezes and returns to desktop.

I tried this on 12-1-16 with update 0/16/2 and issue still exists.

Affected a single player on Windows 10 Beta (0.16.2), and Android when on realms.

Chest connected to hopper on mob farm, open chest game instantly crashes, also affected a friend on my realm with iOS version (iPad). Removed the hoppers, same issue, even when trying to break the chest it crashes....

I have this same problem, the chest is connected to a hopper on my mob farm and when i try to open the chest it instantly crashes out of the app. I wouldn't be so bothered by the problem if i hadnt fallen into the farm and been killed over the hopper, so now all my things are in that chest...

This is also still affectin 1.0.0 the new version on local on phone, and Windows 10 Beta, and my realm. No change since the release 😞 Makes making farms a pain!

This is still an issue. I see it hasn't been assigned yet; hoping another comment will bring more attention to it. I'd be more than happy to upload my map with the broken chest/hopper.

Affects 1.0.2 on IOS. In one of my survival worlds opening any chest crashes game for me the host. If a player joins the same world they are able to open the chest and see the contents. I am able to destroy the chests without crashing.

A little bit of an update. I thought since in another user connected to my world was able to open chests without issue it might have been an item I was carrying. So I started to drop everything in in my inventory however now my game crashes as soon as I load it. It seems to be related to the last item I put in one of the quick select slots. Now when I load the world it crashes all I see before the app closes is a torch as if I had it selected as the active item and nothing in my quick select before it crashes

Also, any crashes that occur are logged automatically and sent to Mojang for further investigation.

Crash occurring after picked up nether brick or blaze rod then tried to go into a chest. once moved the items into quick slot game now crashes as soon as the world is loaded. v1.0.7

Crashing chest since long time ago (see MCPE-21375 & MCPE-18516 for details).
Crashes if interacted with in any way including via opening, destruction, hoppers, etc.
This specific chest contains 64 Air in slot1 (programatically slot0), others have explicitly mentioned Air in a chest slot making the game crash also, so that is one cause of chest crashes clearly identified.

Maybe delete that slots contents while loading the chunk in a similar method used to update unnamed maps to be called Map 0?

Update 2:
I had a crash in game and rollback (leaving to auto report/upload)
This gave me the chance to test opening this chest rather than destroying it, this worked also so great 🙂
