Description:
When playing Minecraft Bedrock v1.20.71 the game stops rendering out of a sudden. It appears that only the rendering is affected (the game simulation progresses however)
Steps to reproduce:
Start Minecraft
Create a new world (or load a saved one)
Play for a few minutes
Observed behavior:
Minecraft appears to stop rendering as if it freezes but resumes after a few seconds.
Expected behaviour:
Minecraft renders normally without any lag or rendering suspend.
Reproducibility: 10/10

By "stops rendering as if it freezes" did you mean the game just freezing, do any graphical errors occur? How does the screen look like? Describing anything as "stops rendering" can mean a lot of things. If possible, please upload a video of this happening.

I mean that the game seems to freeze and that's what I've thought at first, but actually it does not freeze, just the screen stays the same for a few seconds, for example if I'm near a cliff and there is a "freeze" and I move my character during this "freeze", when the game "unfreezes" i already fallen off the cliff(even though basically the screen stays the same). This makes me believe that just the "rendering" or whatever is going on is stopped (or suspended or whatever) but the simulation of the game (or block updates and mob positions and so on) keeps going.
Hope this helps. Let me know if you need anything else.

Please note that I'm running the game on a PlayStation 5.

Would it be possible for you to attach a video demonstrating the bug?

Attached freeze.mp4.
Please take a look at ~0:35 (that's when the freeze happens)

Does this happen when auto-saving, as described in MCPE-152718?

Does this happen when auto-saving, as described in MCPE-152718?

I don't believe that the bug occurs during auto-saving, as it happened to me in multiplayer mode on a server. I think there is no auto-saving on servers, but I'm not sure.

Not really, that bug report is regarding overall lag of different actions if you play for a long time (even if its in small sessions or a longer one, it could be related to the map size) this does not happen on PlayStation 5 however (at least for me)
IMHO this is not related to auto-save!
The difference between these 2 bugs is that this ticket refers to a complete freeze of the screen while the other refers to lags but WITHOUT freezes (e.g. rendering continues, there is no freeze, just some actions are delayed)
And also play quality of Minecraft is higher on PlayStation 5 as opposed to PlayStation 4 which has a low-end performance. I remember experiencing those types of lag on PlayStation 4, they are annoying but there was no freeze.

affects 1.20.73

It's getting worse and worse. A few days ago, the freezes only occurred every few hours. But now they happen every 2 minutes; the game is almost unplayable.

What is the status of this ticket? Its been almost 3 months since I've reported this...
Any rough estimation on when we are gonna expect a fix for this? Thanks!

affects 1.21.0, and its getting worse, because the render breaks take longer and longer...
@unknown Are you playing on a PlayStation 5? If so (and this is a question to @unknown as well), is this still an issue in the PS5-specific Preview?

Jarl Penguin, yes, I'm playing on the PS5 Standard Edition. After 6 in-game days of playtime in the Minecraft PS5 Preview, this bug hasn't appeared a single time.

Hi there.
I get the same issue at seemingly random times. It's more frequent now than it has been. I see this occurring both when autosaving and not autosaving. In severe cases, the freeze suspends the entire PS5 OS, forcing the system to reset. No problems are detected by the PS5 during this. It seems that when this happens and the PS5 OS is frozen, the issue with the game is also not able to generate any kind of error report. Two out of 4 times when it has done this, it corrupted the game save file, which resulted in me having to download the last cloud save to the console. Which results in lost gameplay time.
Cheers Craig.

All,
I managed to get some time yesterday and did not see the issue at all. I am keeping an eye on it. Curious if anyone is seeing the issue now.

h12cag, Are you talking about the Minecraft PS5 preview?

Well, I have this bug. My friends have this bug, the guy who reported this bug here has this bug, and the 9 other people who voted for this bug probably have it too. So, it's a pretty widespread bug. A game-breaking bug that forces me to reinstall my game every 5 days. Why isn’t this game-breaking bug being fixed? My only hope at the moment seems to be that somehow, by chance, this bug won’t be present in the native PS5 edition. And what if it’s still there? It seems like no one cares that the game freezes every few minutes. And then, updates fix over 100 bugs, most of which hardly affect anyone, but bugs like this one are acceptable for Mojang? Who sets the bug prioritization there? This is unacceptable.

I could literally upload over a dozen clips showing this happening. Maybe other players just assume it's a controller issue.

I can confirm, I play on ps4 and ps5 and both consoles have problems, check MCPE-186596

I don't know how the bug-fix system is set up here, so I don't know if anyone here can help me further. But can someone PLEASE give me a small status update on how things are currently looking with this bug? Is it possible to roughly estimate when this bug will be fixed?

Today I reinstalled the game to get rid of another bug. After reinstalling, this bug appeared very noticeably

Why can't I upload more clips? I specifically made some clips showing the bug, and I can only upload half of them. Why?

There is a limit on the total number of attachments because often the attachments don't really show anything "new" or significantly different from what is already there. It is much more helpful to have a concise, but complete, list of specific steps that someone can follow to reproduce the bug.

Same for me. Ps4 pro.
The game is UNPLAYABLE on ps4. I don't use Realms, I play solo and locally, worlds saved on my ps4.
1. Many times, and I think it coincides with the autosave, everything freezes completely, sometimes for seconds but other times for minutes, even the audio only plays a couple of notes. The console does respond, I can go to the main menu, but Minecraft stays completely stopped.
2. When playing, for example, a newly created world of barely 30mb, everything around you stops, animals and mobs stay static, if you interact with the terrain it either does nothing or disappears abruptly, the inventory doesn't open, the chests don't open either, ... but I CAN move, it's as if everything froze except the character. This lasts about 10-15 seconds, the problem is that when it recovers there are some actions performed (digging, hitting,) that all happen suddenly. If for example you are digging and this happens and you keep digging many times when you return to normal you find yourself under the ground and die almost instantly.
This is frustrating and totally unplayable since it happens every x time.
