iOS lag spikes occur in all single and multiplayer modes (realms, private, public servers)

Major lag spikes happen with ~15-30 second intervals on iOS when connected to realm. The same bug does not occur on Xbox. No similar lag spikes on local world or public server (eg cubecraft). This bug makes it more or less impossible to play on realms at the moment and it has been affecting me since update 1.20.31

For the other players connected to the realm, whatever action I preform while the lag spikes takes place continues, it is purely on my end that it seems to lag. The screen freezes however the action continues, and it’s very disorienting when sprinting and suddenly everything stops for 1-2 seconds, only for my player to appear somewhere complete different to where I was when the lag spike initiated. As if a few frames were somehow lost on my end. And no, this is not because of my resource packs.

EDIT: Affects private worlds and public servers as well. Tried to uninstall the game and all resource packs but no difference. Audio also lags out a few seconds before or after lag spike.

Can confirm. Seriously annoying bug.

Appears to be triggered by changing perspective

I reproduced this also on singleplayer worlds, pretty much the same occurence as Android issue. Updating title.

Yeah this is happening to me in 2024 in a private world

Can confirm. This started to happened to me recently on new Preview 1.21.70.20 on my iPad 9th generation. I didn’t test yet if I has the same issue on my iPhone 16. But this only happens to me on recent Minecraft Preview, full release seems not affected for me.

Check if I have the same issue on my iPhone 16 right now and my response. Yes iPhone 16 with 256 gb have the same issue sadly, but freezing last only 1 to 2 minutes and not so frequent. So its not older devices issue only.

At first I thought it’s because my iPad only has 64gb of storage and Minecraft didn’t get enough of storage but I suppose is because something else now that causes this lag spikes.

Still happens on iPhone 14, even in offline singleplayer

I have an IPad 9th generation running iPadOS 18.5 with 157.74 GB available. I’m playing with Minecraft version 1.21.81. I”m the only player on the world. The game continually freezes especially when loading new chunks. It had become more frequent and the freeze lasts longer (over 1 minute) with the current version. My iPad is not heating up and I don’t have this issue with any other games or apps on the iPad.

I can send a video if that would be helpful.
