Original description:
I am trying to make a kit for a world, and usually i will just /clone the container to the area i want it and it will auto refill and everything is fine. I tried the same thing today, and every time it clones the container, it closes the gui. It used to keep it open, so i don't know if this is a bug, or a patch that is supposed to happen. Please help!

I was able to confirm. At least, I'm sure this didn't happen before 1.21.

I checked the update logs, In 1.21.0 They added it as a "fix" where the GUI does close every time it is cloned, because i guess it crashed peoples games when it stayed open, so I'm just going to put it in the minecraft feedback site. Everyone who is on this post can try to vote for it though so we can hopefully TRY to get it back in the game.
Thank you for your report!
However, this issue is Working as Intended.
The report you have submitted is working as intended: containers shouldn't stay open when new containers are being cloned into the same place, as mentioned in the 1.21.0 changelog. This is now consistent with Java. However, feel free to log container's UI opening for a moment as a separate issue.
Please note, that mechanics of the game may change between updates.
Things such as graphics, sounds, world creation, biomes, redstone, villagers, and animals may not work the same in current versions.

This is a really terrible change as it breaks so many maps and contraptions, this mechanic was used for so many things like letting everyone take a kit for KitPvP, or making container items change when players are inside it. Quite an anti-creator move from Mojang. Hopefully they reconsider this sometime.
i agree. this is driving me crazy, and there's nothing i can do to replace it. im going to have to make a hotfix for my realm to let players take items out of chests :/ btw what is the link for the feedback site so i can upvote it?
